Seeing those Fable 1 against Fable 2 images...BEAUTIFUL!

Those who say it still looks ugly, thoseare the people who have been spoiled with "next-gen".

I am glad they didn't change the art, I would hate it if they did.
The reason is that I love these type of art wih crooked houses, Tim Burton feel, love it.

After I experienced Mass Effect of how that was, I was a bit dissapointed, but doesn't mean I don't like it. (Can't wait for the rest of 2 sequals)

But the RPG I want is Fable 2 now, it's on #2 on my most wanted 360 game while NG2 is on #1.

The game looks pretty good, especially in the videos. Nice shadow mapping, and the fact that you can go in homes and still be in the game world (unlike Oblivion for example) while the houses are still nice looking inside is a big plus. I think I noticed some nice HDR in the videos too.

I mean, it's way better looking than Ninja Gaiden 2, and some people are actually praising how that game looks.

Too many RPG's? Such as?

Excluding all the JRPG's I can only think of 1 western RPG coming out anytime soon and that's Fallout 3. I hate JRPG's with a passion so I'll gladly welcome any half-decent WRPG.
I'd gladly play a quality JRPG over some half-assed WRPG. I've played and enjoyed Oblivion and Mass Effect but those games were 10~15 hours of quality RPG the side quests were mind-numbingly pointless, with Mass Effect being the worst having ugly looking planets after ugly looking planets driving a crappy land rover to go into ugly looking dungeons that span a stunning (sarcasm) breadth of 3 or 4 rooms. The dungeons in Oblivion were the same as well.

Not saying those games are bad, but they for sure have their faults, and these are considered AAA games. Not sure what kind of mentality it would take for someone to hate an entire genre enough that they would be willing to eat a 8-week old hamburger over a freshly baked pizza. Yeah, even most pizza haters would eat the latter.

I agree on Mass Effect being way too short and the side missions being the most lame side missions I've ever encountered. But what's left of the 15 hours pure enjoyment ís way more interesting to me than a game I already despise just looking at it (and yes, I've tried out several ones as a friend of mine pretty much only plays JRPG's). I hate the whole atmosphere alone of JRPG's, it creeps me out. And the gameplay's horrible with it's turn-based combat, imo. The cheesy voice-acting doesn't help either.

Therefor your analogy is extremely odd and unjustified. I think a more appropriate one would be that "I'd rather eat half a delicious hamburger than a large pizza that makes me puke."

Anyway, you could've left out the insults and just answered my question. Either way, I think we've established that for non JRPG lovers, RPG's are rare on the 360 and therefor, any half-decent WRPG is more than welcome.

Stuff about Mass Effect and JRPGs
I agree 100%. Mass Effect's main story and missions were great, but the side-quests and "explorable" areas felt tacked-on, uninspired, and completely boring in every way.

I'm really not a fan of football games at all. I would never play the most amazingly perfect football game over a half-decent WRPG because I know I'll have more fun with the latter. If I'm not a fan of JRPGs at all, why would I ever choose to play one, even if it's absolutely fantastic, over a good game in a genre I enjoy?

How can people say this is ugly, then go on to say Gears was beautiful, atleast looking at fable doesn't make you want to slit your wrists, freaking grey overtone crap. This game is beautiful, we need more colourful games like that, take it back to before all the games tried to be realistic and bored n depressed the hell out of people.

While I don't agree that Gears made me want to slit my wrists(I found the underground levels actually beautiful, not just technically sound), I have to say that this looks, well, magical. The world seems so lush and vibrant and NOT at all last-gen. Twilight Princess should have looked this good.

And what makes games like Final Fantasy so long? Is it the massive amount of explore content? or the six and a half hour long cut-scenes followed by discs upon discs of FMV? :P

I have not played a single FF game ever. Not even sure why they are considered good. But there are some fantastic JRPG's that I love, such as Dark Cloud 2 and others from Level 5, all the games from Tri-Ace, Grandia series, etc.

Where did I insult you? I was only making an analogy of how you could possibly have seen enough JRPGs to hate the entire genre? Turn-based? Voice-acting? I agree that many companies hire sub-par voice actors to do the voice overs, but there are a ton of JRPGs that are not turn based and/or have good voice acting for once. I have a feeling you've only seen a few JRPGs.

I was like you when I first was introduced to JRPG's. My first JRPG I played was one of the phantasy star games, while had a good story, could not stomach the slow turn based and random battle crap. So I totally hated it. Didn't touch them for years till I got Grandia II as a present, and while it was semi-turn based it was actually really fun. That got me hooked and now I just simply pick out the good JRPGs from the sea of muck. I do enjoy WRPGs a lot too but sometimes they take themselves way too seriously and it's nice to mix it up. It's too bad you're missing out but to each his/her own.

Ugh !!! this game looks like "Untold Legends: Dark Kingdom", the absolutely boring PS3 launch title. DAMN they're going to ruin this franchise again. Crap dog animation, utterly jerky character move and hopeless lighting...

C'mon Fable Devs, take lessons from Insomniac's Ratchet & Clank Future: Tools of Destruction... that's how to make a gorgeous fun and cartoony game !!!

I thought I was the only one not impressed with these images. They look too much like the first game (enemies, landscape). I wanted to see something totally different. Less cartoony. WTF is up with that guy's stache?
I don't I loved fable exactly because of this art style. It's brilliant.

Even if you haven't played the original Fable, I cannot fully understand your comments, (and inherent lack of understanding).

Fable 1, although short and lacking in the features originally promised by Molyneaux, was still great fun to play. It had a character all its own and you became emotionally involved in the game, which is SO rare nowadays! A charming little number for sure. I for one cannot wait for this to come out.

This is in a different league to the mindless pap you mentioned.

Agreed. If you could put aside your initial disappointment that arose from the fact you couldn't plant a tree and watch it grow(...cool...?), the game was just good, pure, fun. I'm sure Fable 2 will be no different...in that it too will be immersive and fun to play(imo...it looks MUCH more fun than the aforementioned Ratchet & Clank). Plus, it's looking pretty great!

To all you graphics whores saying how horrible the graphics are for Fable 2; the game isn't trying to achieve the best graphics out there. It's focusing on an art style that give it a darker fairy tale like feel...btw, we only cared about realistic graphics last gen, now it's about how the artists use the graphics

And since Fable 1 was one of the best games last gen despite its dissappointments, Fable 2 will just be amazing. But i wonder if you can cut down trees like whatshisname told us we could for Fable 1...

So basicly, if you don't like JRPG's you're just not trying hard enough...I get it.

Look, I've tried on several occasions. Like I said, a friend of mine only plays JRPG's and I've tried so many times to like them, trust me. But, I just can't stand them...it's as simple as that.
