Graphics are pretty bad. This is something Rockstar will simply not get, ever. Would you please take a look at the last shot? Damn that's awful.
Saint's Row has much better textures, lighting, and shadows......difference is pretty damn big.
And if you are going to reply with "SR sucks!", "it's all about the gameplay".....That's not the point, don't bother.

The graphics aren't bad, the character model geomestry is simplified. but the environments, the mood, the rest of the game is awesome. I'm a graphics whore at times but I'd take GTA over any sorry ass clone like Beverly Hills Gangsters (a.k.a Saint's Row) any day.

Nah, i agree, the textures are quite horrible, put this next to gears of war, and youd think its last gen...
SR has better graphs, BUT, animations are better in GTA, animations count for something...
Also there seems to be more things happening at once on screen than SR.
Still, until i play it, i cant say which is the better game, so far ViceCity is still my all time fav sandbox game.
PS, at this stage id say Crackdown deserves more credit, its gfx were way nicer than this and it had some sick explosions.

GTA also has better art and character design than Saints Row, so even though the graphics are worse "technically" they are still more believable and entertaining than SR's.

Some of you guys expect too much from this current gen of consoles. For an open world game with physics that GTAIV has, the graphics are exactly where it should be. Rockstar makes the characters, environment, view distance and animation all works well together.

The question now for me is 360 or PS3 version... 360 is WAAY too LOUD!(With external fans it's like a TOTAL mofo airport! :(

wow,looking at these pics, i can smell the framerate chugging already lol, graphics are ok i guess, good from good to bad, but we all know the framerate will suck, much like SR's did. Just changed my preorder to HMV, so i get 1000 XBL points free.

hello,
gta 4 graphics are 10 times better than saints row. saints row has nothing special for me. bad geometry, worse foresight, very low frame rate and pop ups out of hell. (sitting in the air instead of sitting in the car)
and it allways feels a little bit empty on the streets and inactive.
and gta will feature "euphoria" the state of the art animation engine
that engine makes every animation by it self. that means no pre rendered animations no matter how often you repeat the same thing.
so you all see gta 4 screens before and say that they are the best looking you ever seen. now because of some bad quality screens the game looks bad?
come on stay at one opinion.
i thinks tese are ps3 shots because of the bad aa and muddy textures.
the 360 version will be a little more beautiful.
down loadable content will be available for both 360 and ps3 but microsoft pay some extra money (50 million bucks) fore some extra missions that wont be in ps3 dlc
saints row at all isn't a bad game but compared to gta its like a ps2 game (not for the graphics)
saints row 2 maybe gets better graphics and better gameplay than saints row but it never become as great as gta is already.
by the way dont compare the two games they are different only a little bit similar in few ways.

It really is an ugly looking game, but hopefully the size of the world coupled with the gameplay, animations and story will make up for it ten fold.
After awhile you grow accustomed to the graphics anyhoo, despite how mediocre they might be.
