When it comes to grey and brown, nobody does it better than Epic.

You forgot Konami/Hideo Kojima/MGS4.
No other 2 color game became so famous.

Yeah I hope they decide to use more colorful scenery this time, but..again that destroys the whole gritty feel of the game...so I dont know what the hell I want from epic :P

Besides, it's the middle east its somewhat all yellowish and brown. But with Gears of War it's sci-fi it can go crazy, but like Synce said, nobody does it better than Epic.

Cool tech! Just a reminder to trolls that Epic a smaller company compared to Kojima Productions has released two games already while Kojima Pro studio is still working on MGS4! The MGS tech hasn't evolved at all and looks pretty bad compared to UE3. So please be quiet

Ontopic: the destructable environments are the most impressive imho.. I hope they implement plenty of that in GoW2 etc, because it would make the game so much cooler.. Blowing stuff to bits is always fun..

What's wrong with grey and brown? Sometimes it simply fits with what is trying to be accomplished. It also makes other colours "pop" that much more. The underground level in Gears with that bit of yellow looked fucking incredible, but it made sense. Destroyed, abandoned marble buildings probably wouldn't have purple neon lights running through them.

And hey, sometimes too much colour can look gaudy and could be perceived as a lack of restraint and careful thought with regards to the art design.

Cool down bro,I'm a MGS fan myself and don't care of such details,not bashing just saying the truth.on MGS games....it's either brown/yellow or blue/white or green/white.Always two colors...same as Gears.Except in MGS 4 they kind of abused it.Or maybe it has some blueish missions too...you noticed they only showed the same place a million times.

Maybe MGS and Gears (to say big names) wouldn't be so unique if they didn't have this trendy use of colors.

For me it's more like 2.8kB/s. It's really slow since quite a few weeks. Same with the streams, they take a whole hour to load. And my connection is good, don't have these problems anywhere else. Server #5 lets me download at ~500kB/sec.

btw: I can't play the file on WMP and VLC doesn't work either.

Jeenyus, what kind of colors do you expect? yellow, violet, purple, pink, red?

To be honest though, MGS has been more about white/blue/grey type of color with small red/yellow/brown.

I am just saying, Epic has always been doing the same type of colorscheme, atleast Kojima changes it around a bit you know what I mean.

And yeah, so far they only showed MGS4 in the same place million of times, so who knows what other environments there are.

I just hope Gears of War 2 has some color in it, I doubt it though. Considering its a war shooting type of game and this time there is gonna be more locust and locust nests we won't see colorful colors :P

All the Metal Gear Solid games have varying desaturated colour themes, much like Gears of War does. It isn't a coincidence that these games are attempting to be more cinematic in style, a lot of directors use similar effects when grading film to convey emotion and mood.

I'll try and see if I can run the 720p version, I wont even bother with the 5120 x 720 MP4. ;P

The 640 x 360 .avi file of the tech-demo is displaying in a resolution of something like 1280 x 90. It's all stretched-out horizontally. I've never had this problem before (using WMP) so I doubt the issue's on my side (not 100% sure though).

Gears of war wasnt really just grey/brown, it went though multiple areas. The mission were its just beginning to become night time is orangeish, then of course night time was dark, plus with the rain. Then underground just a normal rockyish enviornment with the yellow lava of course. The last two areas were a more bright yellow.

No man,I want some colors like Army of Two.Not bothered by lack of colors in Gears at all (it's one of my fav games of all time and I'm 28yr old,"all time" covers a lot),just meant to point at the fact that the big games have a smaller color pallette,feels like the devs have been talking to each other: "Hey man,we go with green and yellow,you ?" ROFL.

I'm just making fun of the fact,not bashing people,a good game will be....a good game.Just don't make it black and white,then I'm bashing. :D

Sath you bring these type of comments on yourself, as everytime you see anything Gears you complain about the color when mgs and kz two of your must have titles are the same, yet you never complain about them?, i love mgs/kz2 and gow all they all have a predominate 2 tone color scheme! but the color pallet they all use is to covey the gritty feel they are all going for, if your going to slam one you have to slam them all, otherwise you sound like a gow hater and nothing else. I know what your trying to say but others won't see it that way :)

But let me make it clear before the fanboys attack me, I am a huge MGS fan and can't wait for MGS4. But you know, it's funny. I hear fanboys always saying Gears has two colors. Well, I'd rather have two than one. MGS4 is green. That's it. One color. As for Gears, it's got some very lush and beautiful environments--especially in MP. Only a fanboy who has never played the game before would claim it has two colors. Why must fanboys exist?

MGS4 is actually beige...it WAS green about 2 years ago (where the hell have you been), but then they ditched the filter and left it beige, just like all modern warfare games from cod4 to GRAW.

what i dont like about gears, which sath hinted at, is the fact they still only use grey and brown despite being a completely unrealistic world and setting. it could go crazy but it doesnt (although i'd rather they stay away from halo like crazy where it looks like some kids toy box has exploded). MGS4 so far is the middle east. it looks like that in real life. beige with the odd bity of colour every now and then. and comparing killzone is kinda strange considering we've seen what? one level, hardly enough to base an opinion on. we've already been told there will be different settings, but we'll see. i agree with synce for once tho. no-one does grey/brown quite like epic. they base their whole artstyle around it. well, that and the giant feet and armour with small heads.
