Namco released this brand new trailer of Soul Calibur IV, showing the usual and new characters, along with the always surprising Yoda and Vador. Looking nice.

Looks very good, indeed. Can't wait for it. That new system with the armors will be great.

For sure. It's easily my favourite 3d fighter.

I haven't seen the video yet for I know its not much of a great improvement from PS2's Soul Calibur 3. SC3 was the completest game in the series ever. With only some graphical improvements they're just re-releasing SC3 by renaming it. I want to see some major improvements in nuances such as how Tekken 6 is implementing multi-tiered stages and such huge level of character customizations etc. and I'm very hopeful for Mortal Kombat 8 that is to be revealed in a few hours...

By the looks of this picture, the game certainly has fallen down from the previous build they showed. The background building and the character models are too last-gen. And btw even PS2's SC3 had self-shadowing and multi-directional light sources added up to moving light sources that constantly changed character shadows:

meh!!!

@ Farooq )

SC3s gameplay felt hectic and dull compared to SC1+2 in my opinion and it's graphics (no matter how much better the techniques used were) seemed like a step backwards to me, that's why I didn't buy it, although I'm a very big fan of the first two instalments (I never played Soul Edge)

I hope this part is more like SC1+2 and not like the (in my opnion) inferior 3rd part

SC3's visuals were a step backwards?

Can't understand what you're saying... it had way better water and cloth simulation was uber physics based, backgrounds were entirely dynamic and there were 30 of 'em. There was really beautiful 'fur' that is entirely missing in any other fighting game and comparable to next-gen's lost-planet (fur coats).
Self-shadowing and steam-fog effects were included that totally transends anything that was available on the first xbox and especially in the soul calibur series.
Then, it had much better frame-rate, game was much faster than its prequels and had way more character optimization options like VF4 than anything else back in the series...
Now if that's a step backwards then what is your opinion of a step next-wards???

My guess would only be... like a lot of xbox-fanboys who got tempered when they were stripped-off of SC3 being its PS2 exclusive, you just hate the game out of envy... that would be a shame if that's true, still I would love to know any arguments of its being a step-backwards, Hee Hee Hee !!!

As I mentioned before I don't doubt it had better techniques for graphical processing, but it still looked worse to me, maybe because the art style was changed a bit and the animations felt choppy.

That the game was faster is a big minus in my book, because before it was fast-paced, but still very tactical game, but in SC3 it became hectic and uncoordinated in my opnion.

The usual more of everything stuff ofcourse is nice and expected in sequals, but it doesn't matter to me as much as the feel of the gameplay and that just didn't feel right to me as someone who played Sc1+2 for years.

Ahh yea I don't even have a xbox, nor have any intentions of buying a Microsoft console, so that little hypothesis of yours goes down the drain.

Game is looking great. I like the new characters even if they don't all 'fit'. Would like to see footage of the new characters though.

I wouldn't say the visuals were a step backwards, but the game itself most definitely was, and that has nothing to do with the fact it's a PS2 game.

Vader for the PS3 and Yoda for the 360, although Namco have said they will most probably be offered as DLC later. Seems pretty obvious too, using one of them would be pretty cool, but it's not really as much fun if we can't have them fight.

All I can say is: Please let there be an option to play with the original Japanese language tracks.

Everything else is butter.

SC1 didn't even have english ones and SC2+3 had that option to switch to japanese voices, so in my opinion you have nothing to worry about there.
