Alone in the Dark: Fire

Alone in the Dark: Fire

Atari released this new technical demo/trailer of the very promising Alone In The Dark, showcasing the fire effects of the game. It sure looks impressive, even with this very bady encoded video.

Wait, this one's first person? Ugh, and here I was thinking it'd have the classic camera angles. Count me out.

Yep, the tech demos have been awesome, the gameplay videos have been great, they're planning a demo before the game comes out (which they'll hopefully follow through), and they're even saying it will sell 2-3 million, it sounds like they're pretty confident in the game. Looking forward to it, it's on my short list.

This is the game I'm looking out for the most (besides GTAIV). The real-life rules are simply amazing. The look of the game is just great. I have already pre-ordered the limited edition!!! Just can't wait.

Is the narrator wearing a retainer or something? That lisp was so distracting. xD

I did watch the video, and once I saw the FPS perspective I closed it. Normally they don't switch the perspective halfway.

exactly.

That stuff isn't going to float here.

Loving these vids. That scene with the main character being inside a burning building having to extinguish the fire is a very interesting take on "scaring" people.

Not a lot more scarier situations than that, and if well excecuted it can create some highly intense gameplay. Very impressive!

What's up?
  • Megido
Megido @Doom_Bringer: do you really think one bad review is going to have that much of an impact on a game that has a 91 on metacritic? (26 minutes ago)
  • Doom_Bringer
Doom_Bringer @GriftGFX: it hurts the developer and sales...are they likely to make another if the game scores bad? Edge sucks (36 minutes ago)
  • GeRaLTo
GeRaLTo @Baleur: 80% of reviews are written by "drones" .Ign, eurogamer, teamxbox, gamespot etc are nothing but companies. Who cares 'bout theirs "reviews" anyway (2 Hours ago)
  • Baleur
Baleur Why are you discussing reviews anyway? When have reviews ever mattered? They are just individual people writing about their individual opinions. Might as well read reviews on music too then, lol XD (4 Hours ago)
  • GriftGFX
GriftGFX pfft text! we only care for numbers (5 Hours ago)
  • blmbox
blmbox Yeah, but judging by the content of both reviews, Eurogamer didn't particularly care much for the game anyway. They probably only gave it an 8 to avoid controversy - the review sounded more like a 6. (9 Hours ago)
  • GriftGFX
GriftGFX 6 to 8 split on Eurogamer, which isn't quite as large but still pretty significant. (10 Hours ago)
