PC Xbox 360 PS3

Bethesda sent three new images of its ambitious Fallout 3 for the PC, Playstation 3 and Xbox 360 platforms. Before, they could only be seen in paper magazines or from a handful of lucky websites. Man, Autumn can't get here soon enough!

i want to like this game, i really do, but the combat is putting me off. if we have choice between the stat heavy method of combat and just straight up shooting im all for it.
I don't understand...why would you want a shooter from a fallout game?

From what I've seen so far, it looks like the main character in this Fallout won't be having a party of three and the combat will be full real-time eh? I hope Bethesda includes some form of prostitution, adult mags, relationships, etc. They were in the original Fallouts, were hilarious, and really gave it that post-nuclear apocalyptic effed up world that Fallout is.

I've never been a big fan of the GTA series. I mean, I like their games, and I'm looking forward to giving GTA IV a try, but my anticipation level for it is no where near what it is for Fallout 3.
people have different tastes. they're both very different games so its not like thats new to anyone that some people want this more than GTA.

Really looking forward to this, I hope this does to the whining Fallout fanboys what the new Battlestar Galactica did to those whining fanboys!
Well put.

Your opinion doesn't speak for everyone tyvm. Even this watered down version of the originals will have tons of more character than the sequels of GTA imo.
That's why I said "in my opinion" and "from about", which does not mean "from". Thanks.

What's so special about this game? The graphics are subpar, and so far it looks like what HL2 did four years ago :/

The graphics are brilliant, but Bethesda has to prove if they're able to create a huge living world with interesting characters and a lot of cynical humor. Their last games were not really... living. And looking at the character models I'm not sure what to think of them.

Depends on what you like and what you look at. Oblivion is huge and has loads of sidequests but the main quest is short and rather lame. Also the leveling system is sucky as hell and the storyline isn't very engaging. Also the environments in oblivion get real old real fast. It's a good game all in all but it's not miraculous.

Mass effect is also like one hojillion times better than oblivion at relating story and emotion. The conversation system is also kickass. So oblivion and ME aimed for different things and both achieved what they set out to do.

This certainly looks like a contender for GOTY.
Graphics look pretty damn good and if it's anything like Oblivion, we're in for a lengthy adventure.

HL2 was a scripted, linear, story-driven FPS. This is an open-world, non-linear RPG, set in a fully realized, massive, post-apocalyptic world containing at least 50-100 hours of substantive gameplay. Personally, I've had enough with scripted, linear games because every game is that way.

Im not sure you need another "hey, you are wrong, bitch!" post but i'll give you one anyways: If i know shit about bethesda this game will be huge and filled to the brim with quests in a open ended world where you can do things the way you want to. It's no secret that this game runs a slightly pimped out version of the oblivion engine and it shows...but it's not THAT bad. Oblivion still looks freaking gorgeous.

At least if you mod it properly. Get some better detail on the distant terrain, 4x the texture resolution and some other shit like that. Man it's a sweet game to look at. Also apply Oscuros Oblivion Overhaul. That's a must.

*Edit: I just realized that since it's Bethesda this will probably have a pretty lively modding community. That's awesome since if the cock it up completely, the fans will fix it :D

because im a FPS fan...not hard to fathom...lol.

im the kinda guy who turns his action RPGs to auto so its the least like an RPG is can possibly be. i like the depth and story found in RPG's. i just dont like the stat managment gameplay. oblivion was essentially a hack and slash for me, and mass effect was just a shooter. but the awesome stories you can only find in RPG's (and MGS) make them AMAZING hack and slash games and shooters. see where im coming from.

i see it more like paying for a super icecream delux with flake, but asking to hold the delux and hold the flake...lol

basically im paying for an experience that can potentially hold a wealth of depth and stat management, but im turning it into a far more simplified experience. in games like oblivion and mass effect is wasnt that difficult to achieve since they where pretty auto/ stripped down anyway. i just wish i could do the same in games like final fantasy, because the story interests me. but the core RPG'ing doesnt. its probably why i like FF crisis core so much. becasue its a far more accessible game.

and thats basically what it boils down to with me. if its not really accessible, im not interested.

I have heard its 500 endings.
IT has to be tiny differances. I meen 500 that is crazy. It has to be small things that you chose in the story.

How the hell will you ever know if you have seen them all?

500 endings is stupid. Give me 10 good endings rather than hundreds of average ones. I can't wait to see a line of text changed because I killed one NPC *achievement unlocked - ending 243*
