Codemasters released these new images of GRID, and it looks like this time these are all realtime.

Well, doesn't look that impressive to me. Can't really put my finger on it but it seems like there is quite an overkill on effects like smoke, light reflections on the cars and the amount of blur/dof. Especially the amount of depth of field on the dash cam kills it for me, and is highly unrealistic.

Wow. This kicks the living shit out of Midnight Club in the graphics department.

Never really liked the gameplay in MC, lacked a certain something.

Definitley a purchase methinks!

This isn't a simulator--it's only natural that some things are exaggerated in arcade racers.

Yay why is Codmasters ignoring fans, most of people are complaining about overused bloom, blur and the damn brown look and they don't do nothing about it. This game could look awesome but this effects simply destroy the whole look, it just kills it for me bah.

visually its a bit of a mixed bag for me. some screens look nice (2/3) others look terrible (6/7) and those hands in the in-car view are really quite horrible. i dunno, seems a bit of a "all style, no substance" sort of game.

Sure the screens look nice as wallpapers/art,but after seeing this in motion,I puked.Just like I did watching DiRT.And I own that game. :(

Games should follow Burnout if they want arcade greatness,or GT/Forza series for realism.

Looks pretty damn awesome to me. Not sold on it yet though... DiRT really sucked IMO so... it'll take a demo to make me do more then look on in awe...

Looks good, but it doesn't have the clean, high-poly detail of GT5:P.

Not really, MC is an open world racer, plus the car models are WAY better in MC, 100k polygons versus what looks like 30k max here. Anyone who thinks this is anywhere near the best looking racing game this generation is freaking blind. Too much bloom and brown, the environment mapping in the night shots reminds me of Gran Turismo 2. The car models are poor.

The only thing this game can hope for is a VAST improvement in handling, physics, and gameplay from DiRT.

DiRT looked amazing when actually playing it, some of the nicest cleanest graphics ive ever seen.
And Burnout is perhaps the crappiest arcade racer ive ever played, you'r better off with Flatout.

flatout? seriously....HAHAHAHA. that game has some of the worst handling in a racer. technically quite a looker, but gamplay wise its a broken mess. only good thing i could say about it is the mini-games, and even those where fucked up in the latest 360 version....what the hell did they do to high-jump.

There are 2 wrong things in your reply.
DiRT is the slowest,worst of CMR series and I was a fan of that.I still prefer CMR 04 over DiRT.It's not HD..it's "blurD",just like GRID.

ROFL I also have Flatout 3.Clean graphics,boring gameplay the same stages as F2 on PC.Codemasters have become a whore like EA,rushing out crap for those that "believe" in their hype.

I'm tired of this... None of the screenshots look the same. Put the fucking real screens up and stop bullshoting us.

I like the shiny stuff, but beyond that, the effects are a bit overkill... And the cockpit view needs some work. The hands look TERRIBLE.

Too many mixed signals for me. I'm expecting a pile up pretty soon.

WRC=best rally racer for me. It's a shame they never brought the series to the States on the PS2 (I think they only did for 1 out of 4-5 games). Dirt is sloooow (as commented by another user) with crap framerate. So let's hope GriD will fare better.

As for this being the best looking racer yet, heh, far from it.

And here's one for the GT-haters, those last 2 screenshots don't seem to be "real-time". No HUD like the rest :P And still doesn't look nearly as good as those GT5 cough*non-realtime*cough replay shots.

I'm unable to assess the number of poly used to render a car in a video game ! Curves are curves, though, look at the Tyres in the backgroung, it's astonishing. This game looks reallly hot, except for the damned blur and bloom that nearly ruined my Dirt experience.
I do agree with you, though, gamelpay had to be dramatically improved over Dirt, and according to the 1up preview, the game doesn't really play good (they are the only ones to mention the car's handling for so long).
Though being a graphix whore, I'll droll in front of the demo but I won't buy it, I've never finished Dirt cause the driving experience was neither sim (ah ah!), nor arcady enough ! To me it just sucked.

I'm with Palamede here. How can you tell how many polygons there are per screen? Grid shows off much better post-processing effects and textures than in MC. I don't care if MC has a open roaming world (which sucked in Burnout Paradise (which sucked), so will most likely suck for MC too). The relections in the night-time races look sick!
