SouthPeak Interactive has released a bunch of images of X-Blades, to be released on Xbox 360, PC and Playstation 3. The game has, according to the official website, yet to get a "platform approval" from SCEA on Playstation 3, but the Xbox 360 and PC versions are on course for a release at the end of this year.

Yeah, what simply looks like a bargain-bin version of DMC is certainly refreshing...
And I'm not sure you noticed, but she's killing things...ie: causing death.
And wow this game actually has more than 2 colours in it, Bravo!
Don't act so surprised. Plenty of games have more than 2 colours, and heck, a lot of them aren't even Japanese! :O

Well of course most games use more than 2 colours :S, I was being sarcastic.

But yea I get it you don't approve of the game, I'm not sure i care TBH.

I don't expect you to care. I think it looks shitty based on the videos of pretty weak gameplay. You think it looks good because it's brightly coloured anime-style. To each his own I guess.

LOL I don't think it looks good for those reasons, yea the art style and whatnot appeal to me, but I thought the cutscene video and gameplay looked pretty good also.

Yes its a "shitty hack and slash" but some of us actually like those type of games.

I don't care if this comes from a small time dev "oh no!" a russian one at that, that doesn't mean its guna be a steaming turd.

It makes me laugh that so many people have an almost solid opinion of a game they have never played and hardly seen any footage of.

Personally I think for a developer of little resources it actually looks not half bad, but I have made that point before.

Seems like a lot of people are jumping on a hate band wagon here, I can't see whats to dislike so much. (oh wait it has a female protagonist, burn the game immediately!!!!)

I enjoy hack'n'slash games as well. This just looked like a cheaper version of better ones that are out there.

I have no beefs with small-time devs or Russian ones at that. Doesn't change the fact that the gameplay looks weak.

What's the difference between having a negative opinion about something as opposed to a positive one?

I agree about the unfounded, or at least unexplained, female protagonist hate. And hey, for all I know, in a few months time I might think this looks fantastic. Right now though, I think it looks pretty mediocre...especially with NG2 on the way :P

I think they could have designed this character without putting a thong between her ass. It looks like tasteless manga. I have'nt seen this much skin on a heroin since Teela from "Masters of the Universe".

I like the art style that they've gone with. They've obviously been heavily influenced by anime on this. It's clear that the artists and programmers are a talented bunch, but the gameplay videos show some real problems with the actual game.

1) camera. The camera appears to be relatively fixed. It appears to pivot in place which is a real problem if you have enemies come at your character from off screen. I also noticed that you get blinded during outdoor scenes where the sun is blazing in the foreground. This could rapidly become a problem if you're fighting a horde of enemies, which it seems like you do.

2) animations. It seems like the hit detection could be too liberal or not liberal enough, at times and the results onscreen aren't necessarily reflections of what just happened. It could make the game appear to be too easy causing boredom, or the game could become unecessarily difficult just because you can't guarantee that you're hitting the enemy.

Don't know how far along the game was in the footage, but hopefully those things can be fixed before release.

Aside from the main character I don't see how the rest of the game has anything to do with anime. In fact she looks really out of place. The art does look decent, I'll give it that. Otherwise the character herself needs to be redone. Hell, redo her face so it's not so fugly and throw her in a schoolgirl outfit and that'd be in better taste, if not exactly good taste. Ironically it's probably one of her unlockable outfits if this game has extras. Should be the other way around. Oh well, probably pass on this one unless it gets much better.
