Xbox 360 PS3

After some long months of just getting the same few images, EA finally released a video showing Mirror's Edge in motion. And it definitely was worth the wait, impressive stuff!
Also we are beta testing the service of our prospective partner for hosting the stream, so please let us know if the stream was smooth for you or not!

Awesome trailer, looking forward to this.

The stream worked like a charm, by the way.

She's a freerunner so naturally her obstacles would be more inclined to here being on buildings most of the time because that's where all the exciting jumps and faster routes would be. She delivers packages, obviously for some secret underground movement as the plot device, and if she was running amongst the crowd then there would be a 99.999999....% chance that there would be hundreds of people that would be able to identify her and thus making what she does mute. O and there are cameras everywhere because of them leaving in a totalitarian society.
Yeah, I suppose that makes sense alright. Still, you'd expect here to see her on the streets now and then regardless. I don't like the idea of always running on top of rooftops either.

On a side note, I was expecting this to be a sandbox type type of game...apparently it's not. The developers claim it won't be too linear, but we'll just have to wait and see. All that said, I can't stop watching this trailer either...it's just that awesome!

Beautiful piece of music playing on that trailer. Anyone know if it was written for the game or being EA published has been licensed from somewhere?

The new streaming software jerks on Opera until it's all downloaded, which defeats streaming for me :(

(yes I know it never works 1st time in opera, but I like it!)

As amazing as this looks, I'm still skeptical. Assasin's Creed had the amazing graphics and animations too, and that turned out to be a pretty shallow game. DICE needs to avoid that by focusing on mission variety. If they can do that, this could be one of the best games the generation (much like Assasin's Creed looked to be).

Oh, and the track is gorgeous. Anyone know if it's licensed?

Clear crisp BRIGHT enviroments, no more of that god damn BORING brown and dirty ruined rusty dark fucking look so you cant even see where you are going.
Im SO sick of that.
This looks much more like PDZ and such, a look i've missed badly.

Wow, instant buy. I dont even need a demo.

I agree, but i think she looks sort of 20% chinese 30% western 50% japanese.

great graphic-style (very fresh compared to all the unreal 3-engine darkness).
You're saying this because you know it's made with the Unreal 3 Engine, right, and that it's a testament to the fact that devs have control over what their games look like when using the engine? The Unreal 3 Engine can't be the constant source of blame even though I know some of you would prefer it as such.

A first person parkour game...what's the point? Parkour is about the beauty of the human form and how you see it interact with the numerous factors in the environment.

A parkour game in first person eliminates that poetry.

So again I ask, what's the point?

Some people might find it fun...?

I personally think it looks boring, but I'm sure the folks that liked Assassin's Creed will probably like this as well.

I'm just saying, the developers have said they wanted to make a parkour game, and instead of using the best angle for the sport (3rd person), they choose to completely hide it through first person.

So, I'm just asking what was the point of making an explicitly parkour game and not represent it visually?

Maybe they thought the immersion of having it first person would last longer than the enjoyment of seeing the character perform the same few moves in third person over and over again.

Perspective isn't what they should be worrying about. This game needs to have variety and fun.

finally a normal looking girl
With a tattoo over her eye? Thats normal? :D

I get what you're saying though, but the industry, as a whole, has been leaning away from exaggeratedly proportioned females for a few years now. (and males for that matter).

Awesome video.

I'm a little concerned that it may be quite linear, and if the best path is highlighted for you too much, you're just not going to be thinking about where to run (which is half the fun of free running/parkour). I hope they don't do overdo that highlighting, and there are several viable paths at all times.

Some of the movements are still a little too gamey to be really immersive. Wall running, and the jump the the red pipe seemed a little 'off' as well. But hey, i'm not the one deciding where the games goes on the realness -> exaggerated scale.

I'm totally going to buy and then speedrun this game though, its looks fucking built for it!

The answer to this is to incorporate procedural animation.
