Fantastic graphics, fantastic animations and if it plays like the original, it will be a fantastic tennis game.

Graphics are very impressive, fantastic lighting! Animations are great, though most of the transitions are lacking...as usual.
Too bad the animations aren't loyal to the characters, they couldn't even get little things like Federer's serve right (not even close), or the taunts/celebrations...they are way off!

Well, I imagine trying to get the tennis players to motion-cap is quite hard to arrange. I'm just impressed the animations are so good. Really human like for some of them, which is quite scary to see.
Graphics are pretty awesome, although some of the faces are a bit funny.

Cheers for that. Still a shame anyway. At least Borg has what appears to be an old-skool racket!

Agreeing with cooleo, except for the blur around the crowds. We know it isn't possible to render a fully realistic crowd yet so it's not worth hiding it under blur and bloom. They should be proud enough on how good the tennis players look.

Animations are what they worked on most as said i think they look pretty scary and true to real life as any Tennis game has got so far.

The animation is nowhere near as good as Virtua Tennis 3's -- really, not even close. Whilst it was an arcade-oriented experience, its animations were some of the most realistic ever seen in a sports game (and certainly the best ever seen in a tennis game). They got everybody's shots and stances correct, and the transition animations were smooth and realistic for the most part.
One thing that struck me from the very first footage I saw of Top Spin 3 is how big a step back it is in that department. I honestly can't imagine how anyone who watches tennis regularly could state that they're anything like "true to life". The players in question simply don't move that way.

Yes, but VT3 had the dubious honor of making Sharapova look positively zombie-like with the skin tone on her. Same with Hingis, except that may have been after a bout of the white stuff.

Virtua Tennis 3 has better animations than this? Sorry, not in a million years. And no, VT3's character animations are also not true to the actual players. Not even remotely close. And the transitions in VT3 are just as horrible, if not worse, than the ones seen in the Top Spin series.

I'm sorry, but you're quite simply wrong. As someone who watches all the tennis I can, and spent a couple of hundred hours playing Virtua Tennis 3 over the past year or so, I know what I'm talking about. If you don't think Virtua Tennis 3's animations were true to real life, then I'd conclude you simply don't watch tennis.

Aretak is right. look at roddick's serve in real life, then in VT3. they do a pretty good job.
