Epic and Microsoft drop the bomb and release the first gameplay video of Gears of War 2. Two minutes of extreme violence and fire, for what appears to be an explosive hyperbole of the first title. Visually, it looks stunning.
Loakum Ugh….scratch that previous comment. The upcoming Game of Thrones video game is a F’in mobile phone game. Why can’t they came an open world GoT game, like Witcher 3 or God of War? (> 3 Months ago)

Commented on 2008-05-10 12:58:08 In reply to blmboxHow can some people have the nerve to say it doesn't look better than the first and they haven't added anything worthwhile? Pure ignorance on their part.
It's just been improved in so many ways, and I feel that this is going to be one of the games of the year for sure. Simply because the first one was brilliant, but this is just on a whole other level.
EDIT: I'm just downloading the video on my 360 so I can view it on my HDTV :) If I thought it looked breathtaking on the computer screen, I bet I ain't seen nothing yet.

But i won't argue any more, you are such a die-hard artard when it comes to this that it's not worth it. Perhaps if you'd stop pissing on everything that's xbox exclusive and admit that a game isn't shit because MS licensed it we COULD have a discussion but i don't think that's possible right now.
Commented on 2008-05-10 13:08:36 In reply to dcdelgadoLooks so much better, and there's a clear difference visually between this and the first one.
November can't come soon enough :)
Commented on 2008-05-10 13:10:53 In reply to ContraLooks pretty cookie cutter. Where is the innovation? Seeing the same exact game play from 2 years ago isn't that impressive. Graphics look a tiny bit better and that's about it.
They'll make a shit load of money anyway.

Just like how CoD4 copied the first Killzones left click to sprint? Or how Gears copied Halo 2's health system? Or how Half-life copied Doom's first person aiming?
...

Sprinting in FPS predates Killzone by a pretty significant margin, and using sticks for movement input (which includes things like ya know, jumping, melee, sprinting, etc) is a pretty intuitive thing to do, since you don't have to take your thumbs off the most crucial parts of the controller for the genre. It doesn't take a rocket scientist to figure that out, just a half decent game designer. That's not innovation, that's common sense.
There are truly new features already coming to light in Gears of War 2. Admittably, Killzone 2 has a pretty interesting cover system, and while cover isn't original in itself, their use of cover is pretty unique. It's a good thing that games don't really need to be innovative to be great anyway. Does anyone actually believe that unlocks (which, aren't really that innovative) make Call of Duty 4 a great game? 'Cause it's the gameplay, which is pretty oldschool Call of Duty when you get right down to it.
Commented on 2008-05-10 13:21:36So why should they change the gameplay just because it is a sequal? it doesn't make any sense.
Sure, they can add new features to it like that chainsaw fight or that locust shield move, but the core gameplay is there, and that will make the fans of the game right at home.
I think that the gameplay for Gears of War was awesome, very polished, and this one will be as just like the last one.

You can't ask everything new while they might have not added that in the game, maybe they have change of hearts of adding it. Or they haven't done the animation for it.
Just wait for more gameplay footages to come to a conclusion as yours, give it time.
Commented on 2008-05-10 13:25:55Most of the games mentioned in your previous post about large scale environments were not even that good.
Its not about free roaming environments its about how fun the game is. Gears of war 1 was short but I played it on all difficulties because it was fun and I enjoyed it. I had killzone 1 for my ps2 it was rubbish I didn't even finish it.
You are basing killzone 2 arguments on videos, at least people are basing gears of war 2 on gears of war 1.
Commented on 2008-05-10 13:26:15 In reply to GriftGFXThe guy playing the KZ2 demo didn't once use the new cover system and it was obvious it was his first time playing. The GoW2 demo was played by somebody at Epic and it just didn't look all that fun IMO. More of the same, but less of the newness.
Commented on 2008-05-10 13:26:57 In reply to nobeliumBut to try and convince yourself, and others, that it looks exactly the same ... Well, it's just foolish really.
