It sure is much more intense thats for sure, and it is no longer in destroyed environment, atleast from this footage.

I really liked the Locust shield move, but I doubt that will come in handy, I rather chainsaw them than holding them as shield.

The clash of lancers was cool as well, the whole fighting who taps the B button more to rip the other one out.

Sure I can't wait for it to come out, but I am not as hyped as I was for the first one because I thought it was decent, and boring MP.

And the visuals have obviously upgraded a bit with better lighting so you see more details on the characters. It is brighter on them, but not in a way that it looks ugly.

Bigger war scale which is always great. much more things on screens, including the Locusts.

Really, it just looks so kickass i can't believe it. A new weapon, some new cool moves and finally you seem to be able to parry a fucker with a chainsaw :D

Absolutely, the draw distance is gorgeous... its astounding. But then again, it was the same with gow1 too! We'll see what other details are there... they say they have new interactive water that was absent in gow1, I'd love to see that if that's there.

Yea i'm hoping for more details. Sure there's scenery but either it's the graphics or the small video cuz lots of it is blurry. I'm not too amazed at the locust on the ground. They seem to be just there and running in a linear path, no AI whatsoever. The flying things were cool though, but ultimately it just looks like more GeoW1 to me.

You can't really fairly bash a game with meat shields.

yumipooky: so what do you want the locust on the ground to do? How would you effectively implement sweet AI on what is basically decoration for the level? They are there to make the battlefield seem more alive. Also the blur is there for a reason, it's called focal blur ;)

Maybe i'm blinded by my complete and utter love for Gears but i just can't see how there is anything to bash here (in an objective sense). If you don't like gears then that's fine but i don't understand why you have to comment on things like the locust running around in the bg not having ai or whatever. That's just stupid.

What I’ve been expecting. More enemies at the same time, bigger battles, some new weapons and moves, upgraded graphics in details and everything smooth as far as I can see.
Gears of War is still Gears of War, nothing bad about it.
I like what I see, too bad that they didn’t show of a scene with the new water effects and destructible environment but that will come too.
Including the things to come it definitely looks and will play a bit better than the first one which already was awesome.

You dont need a comparison video to show you that. The improvements will be subtle visually. As gears was already pushing the 360. Hopefully the real difference will be on the whole package, gameplay, online parties, ect.

Hey, it's not like I don't like Gears, I love the game. It's just that in that segment of the video, it's as if they looked down at them just to demonstrate the scene from their tech demo months back. To me it was like "what's the point? They don't do anything, why bother throwing some shots at them?" And thanks for the "focal blur" enlightenment. I don't know too much about 3D graphics and whatnot. If it's there it's probably to add to the atmosphere/theme. The color still looks drab to me, but if it sticks with the whole eerie kicka$$ mankind-lost-all-hope atmosphere Gears1 had, this will be a sure win for me.


I have a 360 and PS3 so I'll definitely be picking up R2, but I'm sure when Gears 2 comes out I'll be picking it up as well and enjoying it. I've always enjoyed Gears' campaign but never really got into the multiplayer. I'm more of a Quake/Unreal Tourney guy.

You failed your own previously stated mission, because you went in to hyper defense mode--chomping down on flamebait that wasn't even directed at you. You obviously can't ignore "fanboy comments"--because you've failed at doing so in the very thread where you instruct someone else to do the same.

This has nothing to do with me ignoring anything--and I certainly haven't called a single person in this thread a fanboy (I don't need to point out the obvious). I'm not in a position to ignore any users on this forum, unfortunately, I have to read shit, even when people can't follow a simple conversation.

But I'm nice enough to sit on this until the morning (oh shit, the sun is coming up)--just to see how many people really take it too far. So be nice to each other, or GTFO.

I don't own a 360, but you can't accuse me of being jealous hater; from the very beginning, I had very close to zero interest in the first game, and have even less for this one. A drab, linear, scripted arcade shooter-fest set in a braindead context. The character designs and artistic style are just atrociously bad and cliched, and are serious offenses to the slightest semblance of good taste.

I'll take Bioshock, Mass Effect, Alan Wake, or even Halo 3, over this.
