now this game seems to be getting along very nicely and I really loved the first Mafia game and I'm really looking forward to this aswell, nice screens sofar.

Great lighting in this particular shot by the way (thought no dynamic shadows, it's got lots of months to implement that in).

In every single shot the game seems to emphasize one thing : textures. I wonder if they'll be using normal mapping. The textures look so high res, and in a streaming open world city the textures would be hogging enormous amounts of bandwidth on a high end PC, let alone being impossible at that sharpness on a current console. However, if they're not using normal mapping they may be saving a lot of bandwidth/memory. I wonder how practical a design that would be... I guess we'll see in the next year or so.

The game is looking great, no doubt, but I just think it's a waste for publishers to release media to hype a game that's over a year away. Due Fall '09 and there's always a good chance a game like this will see at least one delay, and we're suddenly looking at a game that might not be out until 2010!

I believe games shouldn't be marketed until about 6 months before release. GOW 2 is a perfect example and doing a great job marketing.

Anyway, the game looks great, can't wait to play it. System reqs won't even seem all that ridiculous by this time next year. Hell, I'm sure a 9600GT can put this through the paces already, and we're talking about a $145 GPU. I'm sure the true high end come late 2009 will be quite a leap over the current mid-to-high-range systems that seem like all the rage.

Looks wonderful. But I cannot imagine / believe contours to be this AA'd and shadows to be this 'soft' on consoles nor pc.

There was an article in a Belgian magazine (PCgameplay) about Mafia 2. The city in the game is 16 km². That is 4x4 km. Even the small town I live in is twice as big as that. So that's not very promising.
I hope that the driving physics of this game will be much better than in the first one. And this time without too much bugs please, because the first was filled with very annoying bugs. Well, they still have more than a year to make the game great.

mhh i really think that it will be a bad end for the game, i really think that 2009 there will be early screens of a new generation, look at microsoft now its the third year without big news.

wish they wouldnt show this game over a year before release. We all know whats going to happen.. you'll be looking forward to it for a year and then by the time it hits it'll be an anti climax because during that year wait you would of played other games that look just as nice.

yeah it looks like hi-res textures + 16x aa :) i think its impossible for both x360 and ps3 :P

Looks goodbut I hope for better for the pc version. It would be a shame to have a fast graphic card idle in this game. :)
