Atari released this first Behind the Scenes video of Alone In The Dark, where a few Eden Studios developers explain with a more or less heavy French accent how difficult and long the prototyping phase of the game was.

But where is the demo they promised us? It should have been on marketplace since last friday. Could it be that there is something wrong with the game, that they don't risk a demo? I have read 2 reviews of the game in magazines, and they both gave it 74/100. The game has some serious issues with the controls according to these magazines. You have to constantly switch between first person and third person controls during combat, but the control schemes are completely different which makes it very frustrating and hard to master. Let's hope it is still worth it, because it looks incredible in the trailers.

i got this game today and its AWEFULL,graphics are crap,screen tearing,framerate issues,bad controls,pop ups,bad voice acting and annoying controls,oh and did i forget to mention the controls they almost as bad as the camera angles it forces on you,my copy going on ebay tonight.
i was so loking forard to this game and im so let down.

I have played the game on PC. It is indeed sometimes a frustrating game. You have a first person view which works very well. BUT then there is more than 50% of the game where you have to use the third person view and then it becomes tricky because you have no control over the camera. It means that you have to turn using your keyboard. And that is very difficult to master and is by times incredibly frustrating, because you have to reset your mind and think completely different. More than often I just walked the wrong way and died falling of a cliff. The reason why you don't have control over the camera in third person view is that the controls you would normally use to move the camera become the controls for the object that you have in your hand. It's a major issue that shouldn't have been implemented in the game. Else it would have been a really compellig experience. Now, you are just trying to focus on the controls, which makes you completely distracted from the game itself. Because of this the score for this game decreases by at least 20 points out of a hundred. My score: 70/100, just because I love Alone in the dark, else it would even be lower.
