THQ has revealed a trailer presenting the story in Saints Row 2, and it all seems pretty interesting. The game is planned to hit the markets in October, which seems to be a pretty good month for gamers.

Trailer's done well enough, but I don't care for series that are blatant clones of something else.

wow this game just got lamer on so many levels. that sword fight looked like shit and it looks like a goddamn comic book cast of characters!
and they pretty much ruined the storyline for anyone who cared, when they showed the leader of your gang turning out to be the badguy and then getting shot by you lol. how stupid can they be showing something like that....

Personally, I fail to see how anyone could dislike this, and yet praise GTA. The story here is decent enough, obviously not on the same level as GTA, but still. And Saints Row 2 actually looks to have something in the way of replay value, a lot of the activites look like a lot of fun. It essentially has everything GTA IV should have had.

SR2 is more GTA:SA than GTA IV. They aren't going for realism, they are going for fun.

the only thing that i dont like about this is basically its whole presentation and style of attempted humor. Its like it tries to be funny like gta but its just not funny to me. and it can be really corny at times.
theres just a difference in the whole theme between this game and GTA, i think thats why alot of ppl dont like this but like GTA. i dunno how to explain it but its like...its an adult oriented game that seems like its aimed towards an audience around the ages 10-15.

It's not about trying a single genre more then once. Just saying that SR2 won't be good enough. It's a bland copy. Crackdown, although not a great game itself, at least added a new twist to this type of game. SR2 is just copying San Andreas. And it's not a good copy.

I enjoyed GTA4 a lot, even with it's lack of fun. However, I enjoyed the first Saint's Row quite a bit as well and the sequel looks very good in my opinion. The cutscenes use the same technology as in game, so it's safe to say the graphics are quite good as well. The game is going for a very over the top style. It's supposed to be a fun game, not a serious one. I mean, the guy friggin' jumps out of a helicopter! So I'm looking forward to this.
