Eidos and Crystal Dynamics release a bunch of new screenshots of the highly anticipated Tomb Raider: Underworld. It showcases a lush environment we've never seen before and superb tiger just about to be shot in the head by Lara. Damn woman.

There's obviously a demand for these games or else they would've stopped making them by now. I think it looks pretty good but I'll probably never get around to playing it

If you actually go back and play the PS1 games, then play the newer 360 games, you'll see the improvement is as vast as Resi 4 was to previous games in that series.
Lara Croft is a historic video game icon, along with the likes of Mario and Sonic, two other characters who have featured in a bucket full of games. It'll be the same with Lara.
Thankfully this looks great. While I loved Uncharted, it felt like a poor man's mix between Tomb Raider and Indiana Jones. As for comparing graphics, I feel it's unfair as Uncharted was rather cartoony and had rather closed off corridor type environments while this game promises large areas to roam.
Anyway, point being there's still a place for more Tomb Raider games as long as they are decent enough.

I only gave my opinion on Uncharted, because everyone else was comparing them.
And I still don't get you complaints about TR. The original developers, Core, were put 6 feet under, and the liscence was given to Crystal Dynamics who made Tomb Raider Legends, which is VASTLY different from any of the other games.
Again, I need to draw on my Resident Evil comparasion. Claiming Legend and Underworld are anything like the original Tomb Raider games, is the same as saying Resident Evil 4 and 5 are the same old rehashes of the first few, despite the complete gameplay and mechanics overhaul.

Hahaha... well said my friend but I think the devs working on Uncharted should have at least make that part of their creed when designing the game.
It's really not fair to compare this game to Uncharted, Uncharted is absolutely amazing looking game but it doesn't strive for the same realism this game looks to.
Uncharted has a very bright look to it, more tuned to the art aspect. This game looks to be trying for a very literal REAL look, in my opinion the environments lack very much direction at this point though.
Gameplay wise Uncharted is cover and this is auto aim button mashing with flips...
Criticize Uncharted all you want, as of now its production quality easily trumps this and seeing as controls and gameplay have NEVER been above decent in a Tomb Raider game I'm not holding my breath.

This is the X360 drake's uncharted just wow and people said the 360 couldn't handle uncharted type graphics. This game prove that to be a lie because this look better then uncharted. Well that's just my opinion anyway before any one feel the need to cry over that.
From pics only i can say the environments looks better than uncharted and more realistic (I loooved uncharted and i didnt sold the game i want to keep it with my collection)

It's very clear you really did not play, let alone try any of the newer tomb raider games. Tomb Raider Legend and Anniversary is NOTHING, like tomb raider 1 to 6, only that it still captures the exact same atmosphere, which I think still is great..! I know this is an opinion; my opinion.. But my first statement is a FACT.
So would you please try legend and/or anniversary before come whining in here? Or is whining just your nature..? ;)
on-topic: great looking pictures! I'm not going to compare this to uncharted (at least, not at the moment). I'm playing through Uncharted for the first time at the moment and I like it a lot. (though I do have a "weak spot" for Naughtydog since crash bandicoot on the ps1. In my opinion Naughtydog just really nailes what I like in video games, time after time =)) excuse me for going off-topic again
Not a patch on Uncharted. The last few Tomb Raider games have been awful and Uncharted does pretty much everything better. The last picture was funny at least but that's all this game has going for it.

The last two Tomb Raider games are actually quite good. Legend falls flat on its face with the whole, vehicle chase level bullshit, but it's quite good otherwise.
