THQ released this trailer of Saints Row 2, showing more of the co-op mode in the game. The game is planned to be released in the middle of next month on Playstation 3, PC and Xbox 360.

I'm gonna stick my neck out here and say that this could be a GTA beater. It just seems to be reeking of the fun factor that GTA used to have and GTAV sorely lacked. Unless GTAIV's DLC adds a shit load of new fun filled features I could see saints row 2 kicking it's ass.

Why does this need to beat GTA? That's like saying Dead Rising needs to beat Metal Gear Solid 4. I think SR2 sales will be just fine.

Anyways, funny trailer. I'll probably pick this up mainly cuz of the co-op. Gonna be some great times.

I agree. I see this as complimenting GTA, rather than competing against it.

Looks fun, and co-op is always a good feature to have.

Looks 10x better than GTAIV. I would snap my copy of GTAIV in half if I could get SR2 right now. SR2 has so many things going for it that people don't even know about. For example when the player stands around for some time, he’ll go off and use an action node nearby. Volition is making everyones dream sandbox game. Once this launches next month the mainstream will be converted to Saints Row fans and GTA will be a thing of the past.

SR1 looked better ;/ going from that vid it's no where near as good looking as GTA, but that could be my eyes lol ;P

The graphics are better than the first games, but definitely no where near the level of GTA IV, but I don't think that's a particular big problem. The gameplay looks FAR better, we have co-op, alternate ways to complete missions, customisation and actual fun.

I enjoyed GTA IV, for what it was - a great story, but the developers seemed to miss the fact that the majority of their fans liked the games because of how much fun it was to mess around with them. Saints Row may not have the same level of story as GTA IV, but it does allow you to sky dive out of planes, surf on top of vehicles and so on.

So yeah, I don't see why everyone see's this as a big competition, the games seem to compliment each other quite well.

You're right mate, it doesn't need to beat it, I guess what I was saying is that it just looks more fun than GTA and that I see a lot of stuff in here that I wish was in the GTA IV world.

saints row 2 is looking very promising, but i saw a vid of gameplay at PAX and the A.I. is really, really,... bad.
the game beats gta4 already because the amount of things you can do.
i rather throw people in front of a train and have gang wars etc..... than go bowling?(wtf).
and to those people up there ^^^^^^^^^^ off course you can compare it to

gta4 . it is a mission based sand box game that is identical.

Do you mean is I'm one of those fanboys who praise GTAIV? No I'm not. What I meant was that I liked the first Saint's row untill a bug refused me to save my game and I had to stop playing cause every progress I made, I had to do it all over again each time I loaded the game. But it was a good game. But SR2 doesn't look good from what I have seen, and that is why I believe it will be a high profile game like Mercenairies 2 that doesn't deliver. Just an opinion. No fanboyisme here at all. I hate that.

I think GTA IV just strayed of the sandbox type of game it used to be, and focussed more on being an third person action/driving/shooting game in a believeble open world with high production values and great narrative. It's not the game SR2 is trying to be, or what GTA used to be like.

SR2 IS focussing on that "sandbox fool around" type of game and I have to admit, there seems to be a lot of fooling around to do in SR2. I'm actually beginning to be quite interested in this game, perphaps just for a rental or second hand purchase. We'll see.

But by the looks of it, the quality isn't there. It looks like a huge mess graphically and as I've mentioned before, the story/humor etc in this game is not my thing (*huge understatement*). They also seem inable in making a believable city/world. It's just severly lacking. To me, it looks to be a case of: 'Jack of all trades, master of none'...in the worst sense possible.

Hope to be proven wrong though!

Im 35years of age, ive followed gaming from its early days of Pong, and to all the people who say that GTA4 looks poop well they need glasses cos i think its a work of art! And one more thing, Rockstar should be patting themselves on the back at making an incredible game ;P

rockstar need a patt on the back for the outragous hype advertising machine ,and not for the game .
anywhere you read on the web 97% of people that played it thought it was over hyped average game. gta:san andreas and vice city were waaaay better then gta4.

you can keep convincing yourself that it is a real city . to me it looks average with pop ups like i have never seen before in any game to date. but keep telling yourself its real. lol

Strange because i never once mentioned its real? and it's still a great game, so you and the other 97% (where did you get that figure lol!) can wait, and play this game and be happy :)
