Well, I am willing to say why it doesn't really impress me.

There just isn't anything in there that makes me go "wow, I have never seen anything like that before." It just seems to bring nothing new to the genre. The shooting isn't done very well either - there seems to be little kickback in the weapon after you shoot, which should be a given really. I just felt really underwhelmed throughout the whole video, although it could have just been the level.

On the plus side, it's quite a pretty looking game. Furthermore, 60-player online should be good.

game looks SWEET...i always knew i was gonna pick the game up since i really liked the first, but it wasnt untill this recent footage where i actually got excited about it. the game looks great both visually and gameplay wise, and it definately offers eveything you'd want content wise. does it revolutionise the genre? no! but honestly, i havnt seen any originality in the FPS genre since half life 2...but as long as it does things well that doesnt bother me much...plus the original and fun weaponry that is an insomniac staple raises it above the competition for me, even if its only by a small factor.

insomniac are machines at dishing out high quality titles in a small amount of time....cant wait

The weaponry is original (Insomniac excels at that), but they all seem really underwhelming, i.e. they just don't look that fun.

I can't deny that the game looks good visually though - quite colourful, but not in an unrealistic way.

i just cant resist the weaponry personally. and its what pushes it up a few notches when compared to other FPS's...i mean, maybe im alone in this, but firing a swarm of auto targetting bullets or launching circular saw blades at enemies beats the hell out of just firing a machine gun or shotgun...even tho this game has those as well.

Want another example of lacking very similar to Resistance FPS shooting? Black.
All weapons sucked at giving that feel, wich is funny in a game that's all about the Shooting&Kaboom.

i dont agree, but i see where your coming from, i feel the same way about other popular franchises like gran turismo, final fantasy, gears of war and halo. they all look pretty, but for me they're average experiences.

Nothing i see justify a purchase for me, shame it dose not have coop through the SP at least then i could blast through the main story with a mate, the tacked on coop campaign seems like nothing more that an MP type experience.

apparently the co-op is really good and pretty deep, with classes that compliment each other well and have to be used effectively to win...but i agree, no matter how good it may be, it just lacks the epic feel and set peices of the single player. shame...good thing the multi and single hold up really well tho. i think R2 may well be the next big multiplayer game for me since cod4. looks like it has a lot to get your teeth into. i have a feeling i'm gonna be playing LBP most of the time tho.

blmbox, dcdelgado and LEBATO running full on damage control. Seriously, stop being so goddamn cinical. I didn't see none of you bitching about the mundanity of Far Cry 2. It's like every time this game comes up, you put on your pessimistic goggles and spit out your "Meh's" and your "Not enough's" . Seriously, cut the f*cking sh*t.

The whole point of an FPS is to shoot the sh*t out of things and have a blast doing so; because coincidentally it happens to be the shallowest genre in gaming, hence all the bitching about innovation. You can't reinvent the wheel every time you decide to put a hand and a gun on the bottom left corner of your game's screen. Jesus. You can tack on gimmicks and all that annoying crap that becomes a pain in the ass half way through the game but what's the point if the game isn't fun.

F.E.A.R. had slo-mo
Half-Life 2 had physics puzzles.

And Resistance 2 has humongous scale and looks FUN.

But ain't I missing the point here? It's a PS3 exclusive. D'OH!
