It's much more professional realized than by Nintendo! ;)
It's nice that microsoft is actually making an effort to evolve the 360, but this is not the right way to do it, a web browser/being able to use your computer as a media server to your 360 without the awful windows media center and the ability to install operating systems would be a lot better than this gimmicky crap.

Please dont make it out like nintendo invented them or somehow own the idea.
You can stream videos directly from pc's to the 360 without media center now so theres no need to add it.
I think adding a web browser is gimmicky myself as yes you can view web pages but thats about it, a pc allows you to do this and much more so you might aswell use that which I'm guessing you have done for writing your post :p
Plus you also open up the possibility for vunerabilities to be exploited through a web browser potentially so I'd rather keep my 360 for gaming/videos and use my PC for browsing/downloading of foreign tv torrents etc.
Edit: Exactly my thoughts Fenrir
The dashboard itself I do believe looks better than the one right now, avatars still look dumb they're simply just not mii's! However its the extras like the hard drive saving, eight player voice chat and extra resolution support that is most welcome for me.
But still considering the amount of money Xbox make from the LIVE system I and other gamers like me simply expected more for their £40-£60 a year.
Gah i really hope this new dashboard is optional it looks terrible and even dumber than the last one, and the mii ripoff is terrible it's just like the miis minus the humor, creativity and charm.

To be honest, I love it. Cheeky, sly and effective :D:D go microsoft
Looks nice. Way better than the actual dashboard. The avatars aren't really my thing, but the way the rest is presented looks very nice.
PS3 interface + Miis?
but nice we have a date...people saying its coming fall was starting to piss me off...lol
I think this is for the people who need to feel like they are different and original, basically better than others.
There is no shame in copying something that works.
I don't take any stance on if ms is copying or not, but yeah, they are copying the sleek look of xmb :)
WHICH IS GREAT! :)
The one thing that'd make me care about the avatars... clothing options. This is MS right, so it's not totally out of the question for them to make Master Chief clothing, Fable 2 accessories, Gears' Lancers etc available for them is it? That'd set it apart from Miis in a nice way and also make them a little bit awesome.
its sony's XMB tilted on a side with added mii's. and aside from the mii's im fine with that. i've always prefared the sleeker look of the XMB to what the 360 currently uses. so the more things using that style of interface the better. wont be using the miis tho, not unless im forced to. really dont like the idea of those. everything else that comes with the "new xbox experience" are all welcome additions

Look familiar?
The new Dashboard resembles Media Center, far more than it does Sony's interface, and Media Center predates Sony's by quite a few years. I also fail to understand why an easier, cleaner and faster interface means it's for casual gamers.
The avatars may be a bit much, but both Sony and Nintendo have them as well, and it's better than simply using gamer pictures, it makes the friends list far more personal, in my opinion. Although I agree there probably should be an option to deactivate them and just stick with the gamer pics.
