Xbox 360 PS3

Mirror's Edge is playable at Electronic Arts' booth, and while you've certainly all seen this level dozens of times before I'm still putting this video online since for once it's the 360 version running and not the PS3 one. Old build too.

This game is hands down the best looking game around, by a large margin. Graphics are insane!
Were we watching different videos or something?

I don't know, is that a trick question or just a "clever" way of stating that I'm wrong? Help me out here, I'm so confused right now...

If you were just stating your own, personal opinion, then you obviously can't be wrong.

I'm confused myself. The game's bright and colourful...but it's also pretty sterile and flat-looking, and there are plenty of games that are at least as good-looking as it...and certainly not less good-looking by a large margin in my opinion.

I don't know, perhaps it's just me but this game really looks so much better than anything out there imo. Perhaps it's mainly the artstyle, I don't know. I really do think ik looks much better than anything else I've seen thus far (yes, including the usual suspects).

The choice for this "perfect utopia" obviously makes it easier to achieve such a level of graphical quality due to not having to waste too much resources on stuff like debris/particles or whatever and it makes sense when it looks sterile in the context of the story/narrative. So sure, that helps...but regardless...the game really shines.

I agree, the dualshock sticks are terrible for FPS games, Infact they are pretty awful for most games that require intricate quick movement.

btw, the game looks great

Must say this game looks interesting. Hope it delivers on the game play and it's fun that DICE trys something different from just releasing another battlefield game in the series.

Btw, everyone knows the atari jaguar controller is the best that ever happend humanity.

Imo, it is the fact that they either (1) used a GI-capable renderer to bake in the texture maps, or (2) managed to do a fast shaders ramp that performs ambiant occlusion.

The natural "colour bleeding" is what makes the game look so good for me, certainly not the geometry :P (buildings are well... square, there is no fancy architecture afail)

I don't like the whole "follow the red" thing that's going on. Seem's a bit of a Ninja Gaiden "Follow the blue" gimic.

Symmetrical analogs > Shifted analogs. Much more ergonomic. Dualshock is great for FPS. Always has been.

It really isn't more ergonomic though. There's a reason gaming publications raved about how great the 360's controller felt: it ergonomically kicks the shit out of the Dualshock.

This is all a matter of OPINION. So people. DON'T TRY TO SHOVE YOURS OR SOMEONE ELSE'S OPINION DOWN SOMEONE'S THROAT. That aside, I personally have NO issue with either the DS3 or 360 controllers. I can switch between the two and feel ERGONOMICALLY okay, hell I switched between the two for CoD 4 and played with no performance difference.

Nope. 360's controller is ergonomically superior. Fact. Pwnd. Kidding. Though not really.

I wouldn't exactly count on his opinion being unbiased based on his avatar/sig... or yours based on your sig.... but that's also just a matter of my opinion.

I also wouldn't count on yours as being unbiased because an opinion is by definition biased, otherwise it wouldn't be an opinion. An unbiased opinion, in other words, is an oxymoron. You are entitled to yours, but IMO there is no difference in controllers. And based on your past posts, I'd say you are more 360 biased... but that is also a matter of my own opinion.

Also, as a hint: you can connect a 360 controller to a PC. For future reference.

Also, it's not a matter of opinion which controller is more ergonomic. The left control stick on the 360's controller is in line with the natural position of the thumb. With the Dualshock, the thumb has to be moved downward to a less natural position. It'd be like trying to argue that a car's steering wheel that is just at arms length is arguably as ergonomic as one that's closer and more comfortable to grab. I'm not saying you can't get used to it, but that doesn't mean it's on equal footing design-wise.

If you own just one platform, then I'm sure you'd have no problem with whatever controller you have, as you work around the limitations. If you own a 360 and a PS3, then it's a different story. When you play a PS3 FPS game after a 360 one, the first thing you notice is the deadzone in the sticks, which makes it hard to control fine aiming. You get used to it over time, but I still struggle with FPS/TPS games on the PS3, but don't on the 360. Watch almost any movie of a PS3 FPS/TPS (Socom is an example), you'll see that there's lots of twitchy turning when the user was trying to make a slight turn to the right or left. That happens far less on the 360 simply because the smaller deadzones make adjustments easier.

That's probably why I tend not to buy these kinda games on the PS3. This month, LBP on the PS3. Next month Mirrors Edge on the 360.
