Driftwood and Lefourbe went to the Micromania Games Show in Paris today and got quite a few videos there. Let's start with this first gameplay video of Prince of Persia, with more to come. No sound, of course. Update: Second part is up.

I would actually like if you would turn on the sound in these videos, even if its all cranky and stuff. Just tune it down a bit so its not too noisy. Just to have something there instead of silence. It just feels like somethings missing, makes my head spin.

Anyway, Prince of Persia looks stellar. Also it seems to be the only high-profile game in December, which hopefully gives it a lot of benefits.
This game is gonna be great. I decided to skip R2 and get this one instead, just feels more my type.
After watching that latest gameplay montage GT and IGN uploaded with that epic orchestra music in the background, it sold me the game.
Gotta pre-order it soon, hopefully with a Limited Edition.
One thing that is gonna bother me ALOT is the american voices for Elika and the prince, and I highly doubt they will change it, hopefully we can cut the cutscenes and dialogue cutscenes.
I am sure some of the cutscenes will be cool looking, but I mean if you are not in the mood for them, you should be able to skip them...unlike AC.
The game had no sound at all when we played, which, given the surrounding noise, is pretty understandable. I couldn't even tell you if the characters sound all right.
And believe me, you don't want to hear some teenagers "singing" in Guitar Hero Tour in the background. ;)
While PoP will be a great game in its own right, I gotta say, what's with the girl not having any shoes? Some simple sandals would have gone a long way to making her outfit look complete at least.

Wow, the environments are gorgeous! Too bad they ruined the combat, really pissed off about that.
Platforming might save this game for me, I don't know. I just feel they've ruined this franchise for me with the "one opponent combat" crap they;ve got going on. *shakes head*

i half agree. i personally think they've made the combat better (since it was utter crap in the past games) the less of it the better. but they've made the platforming completely risk-less. the fact the woman saves you if you fall just kills the platforming for me. but i agree that they've essentially ruined the franchise. the visuals are styunning, but im not liking the decissions they've made with the actual gameplay. the yank voices dont help matter much either. if the prince is going to have an accent, make it a persian one. the last thing i wanted is the prince sounding like drake from uncharted
What on earth do you people want ? an Arab-ised, persian-ised english accent ??? that's nonsense and it's what Holywood had done to all of us thinking it's the right thing. the real right thing to do here is to have the prince speak in persian and have english subtitles. any other thing, be it english, american british or whatever doesnt matter either way.
IMO, I dont have a problem with the american accent because all but persian will be substitutes. Same way Ryu Hayabusa speaks English.

Alimo...its weird to hear the prince have Nathan Drakes voice, and its too american rather "english".
But in NG, you could atleast change the voice to Japanese for all the characters.
Play Assassins Creed again, go to a middle eastern based city, listen to the NPCs and you will see that the accent fits if done right...here, its done very bad.
