I hate how they want to make war look cool.

I thought that they would use violence to actually show how horrible war is, but this trailer really sucks my balls.

Music is so unfitting, and those one-liners are pathetic!

Give me a break-do you really think people would by the game if they showed the real horrors of war.Don't start a debate about war as entertainment,because at the end of the day,this is just a game!

I kinda agree with Redneck. It's really ridiculous how they are portraiting war here, like in those war B-movie with square-jawed characters who pass time slaughtering "bad" people and telling atrocious jokes. I love simulated war and all, only i find a bit -cheap- the way it's presented here.

Yes, your rigth about this game doing a terrible job of it, this trailer was extremely crude. Sadly enough, real war is pretty crude. Have you seen the kids in Iraq? Unfortunately, war brings out the worst in all of us. I'm sure you've at least heard about those guys that go in in their humvee's screaming obsenities and racial slurs. And these are good boys. But its war. Its not pretty, its not attractive. It makes people ugly and chaotic.

And yes, very innapropriate music, good music though, but its really stupid. War isn't at all cool. In fact, thats what was supposed to be the focus, with the drama and crap.

That said, humans will be humans. We have always simulated war, from chess to Call of Duty. I assure you, it is far better then just taking out your aggression on real people.

Game looks ok, but this wsn't a great trailer. I wanna see a game that encourages things like mercy. And no fear? Thats a good one lol. Fear is what reverts so many soldiers to a lesser state of mind. Its a protection mechanism.

I have no problem with violance in games, but beeing a historical event, you should not try to make WWII look cool. (No matter who you're fighting against)

I actually enjoy Gears which, I guess, is much bloodier.
The difference is that the launch-trailer of Gears2 wasn't some crappy garbage crap saying: "WOW, look we got a flame-thrower, Hell Yeah we actually managed it to include a fucking torcher, biaaaacth! Now go and burn sumthin'"
(Which obviously is what this trailer wants to say)

Eventhough CoD5 might be an enjoyable game, imo this trailer is one of the worst I've seen so far.

Not that they were able to show all the real horrors of being in a war, but they did try more than most games and it still sold fairly well.

Yesterday; I watched this trailer without sound. And then it's a lot more horror. I think it's a good trailer.

Treyarch is really holding their own with this game. The multiplayer beta was great and actually did several things better than COD 4. I played the hell out of COD4 and am going to pass on this one and get Gears 2 instead. I'll wait for Infinity Ward's follow up next year. Just really hope that they carry over the new blood and violence effects from this one. COD4 did not use it's Mature rating realisticly enough.

Yeah, that trailer may have left me with the wrong message. It really did look as if it was expressing how cool war is. At least some war torn violent games give you the sense of we're good guys and they're the bad guys. It just seemed like the music kind of hyped the over the top violence the way the WF hypes wrestling. In fact, it sounded very much like a WF trailer.

WW2 was the baddest thing that happened that we can imagine because of the testimonies and how much we know of it. But that wasn't the first time that happened in this world. The Roman Empire was all about war and attrocities. The crusades were an ethnic and religious cleansing on a massive scale. And more examples can be found in history. So a game about WWII should never be cool. And I think that World at War shows that. Let's hope WWIII will never happen, but people will be people. Once oil has depleted....

Well it's Treyarch, keep your hopes DOWN, boy! The last great game they made was... what was it called again... oh that's right.. they haven't!

Honestly, as a big fan of the franchise and big critic of Treyarch myself.. they haven't made anything downright bad for quite some time. Call of Duty 3 wasn't horrible. It had a lot of flaws, but they're the same flaws that people pointed out in Call of Duty 2 and even Call of Duty 4. They did a capable job at emulating the Call of Duty formula.. and this game had a development cycle twice as long as their previous entry in the franchise.

Oh, and the beta is pretty f'n solid. I still prefer COD4, but it's good.. and I look forward to picking it up next week. I'm mostly only buying it for multiplayer, but that's always been Call of Duty's real strength.

thats icing on the cake for me. same goes for that zombie mode. the multiplayer is whats going to keep me playing for months. 4 player co-op is definately going to kick ass tho. playing through it on friday. then round my mates on saturday to polish off the last half of gears of war 2.

Absolutely spot on. This trailer is the very pinnacle of tasteless trash. Whoever put this together should be fired on the spot, and if this in any way reflects the way the game portrays war then they won't get a penny out of me. I kind of suspect that will be the case though, given the recent comments about the industry from the braindead moron who runs Activision.

At least Gears knows that it's an over the top silly parody game. COD is supposed to be a realistic take on war.

yeah, cos regenerating health and endless spawning enemies and allies is SO realistic. its a game. you play it to have fun and to be entertained. nothing more, nothing less. BIA tried to capture the horrors of war. but at the end of the day, you was still blowing peoples legs off with grenades and each chapter startted with your whole squad being revived ready for battle. realism is not what the games industry needs...far cry 2 proves that.

Far Cry 2 isn't very realistic. I'm not sure where you get that its problems spawn from realism. Not that I don't agree that people aren't overreacting or that Call of Duty has never really been about realism at all. This aint a sim.

It stuns me how many people that constantly forgets that games are GAMES, not real life, not documentaries, not journalists. They are games, games are made to be played and enjoyed, for peeps to have FUN. Nothing else.
