Square Enix has announced that Nippon Ichi Software's Disgaea 3 will be released in Europe on the 20th of February. A bunch of images can be found inside.
Square Enix press release:
Square Enix Ltd., the publisher of Square Enix® interactive entertainment products in Europe and other PAL territories, today announces that Nippon Ichi Software’s Disgaea®3: Absence of Justice will be released by Square Enix across PAL territories on 20th February 2009 exclusively on the PLAYSTATION®3 (PS3™) computer entertainment system.
Welcome to the twisted world of the Nether Institute, Evil Academy where good is bad and bad is good. In this school a good student is somebody that excels in delinquent activities such as skipping classes or not doing their homework, whereas a bad student arrives to school early and does their homework on time.
This is the setting for Disgaea3, a rich and deep Strategic RPG that’s not afraid to display a very bizarre sense of humour. It’s a winning combination that will leave you laughing one minute and fighting cunning enemies the next. Where special attacks can deliver up to 100 million points worth of damage and the power of the PS3 is used to deliver 2D sprites, albeit lots of them!
John Yamamoto, president and chief executive officer of Square Enix Ltd. comments, “With Disgaea3, Nippon Ichi have created a wonderful world full of bizarre characters and deep, addictive gameplay. I hope everyone enjoys playing this unique and rewarding title.”

The game must have been original made for ps2 and then ported, right? I can think of no other way to excuse it. The sprites could at least have been in a higher resolution, not to mention the polycounts and textures :P
As far as I know this was meant to be a PS2 game but they only just ran out of ram so stuck it on PS3 instead, I could be remembering wrong however. Still though it's one hell of a SRPG regardless, Disgaea games are brilliant.
Wow, Square Enix is finally publishing something on the PS3, though it is only in Europe and not something they developed. Why isn't NIS publishing this title themselves? No EU branch or something?
Yes, finally we have got a release date. The first two episodes were great games and this one looks like is going to awesome as well. The battle system of the series is what makes the saga so good, I don't care for the graphics wich look ok.
Next step for SE is to announce the european release date for Persona 4.

Because NIS don't have the resources to publish it in Europe, many Japanese developers don't publish in Europe.
Game looks really bad visually but may be worth a rental, they should have published it over PSN IMO, can't image the game is that big prob 2-3 gbs.
to publish in USA you need one language , to do same thing in EU you need 5 language's to be on the game , translating cost alot , plus the voice over. so it's just better to import from USA (games are region free).
on topic , played first game on PS2 , didn't enjoyed it, now nothing has changed and expect tha full price.

Why didn't you just import it from the US? It's been out for months there and all PS3 games are region free.

You couldn't possibly appreciate this game with a rental. It's a 100+ hour title.
I've had the US import of this for months and it's fantastic. The writing is absolutely hilarious and the visuals look fine in game as mostly they're zoomed out. It actually runs in 1080p believe it or not, and at 60fps. Plus of course the battle system is one of the best around with tons of depth.
Icing on the cake - you can have the original Japanese voice cast throughout. No horrible dubbing ruining things as it did with Persona 4.

1080p and 60 fps are mandatory when the graphics are this bad. And there's no excuse not to include the japanese voices when you have a game that is one or two gigs tops on a 50 gig medium. Now i love Disgaea, or rather i love Hour of darkness, but this is just...underwhelming.
I still haven't even beaten this game... Not because it's too hard or too long but it's just "bleh," which really caught me off guard because I was very excited for it. The original is still the best
