Bionic Commando: Lab Report 1

Bionic Commando: Lab Report 1

Capcom and Grin released the first "Lab Report" of Bionic Commando, showing the arm of the game's hero in action. It's also a good way to see the game in action again.

Doesn't look as smooth as I'd hoped, but looks like it'll still be great fun to swing around.

Don't get your hopes up, I hear your freedom is annoyingly limited by water and "radiation areas".

I think it looked smooth enough.

It looks like perfect timing will be crucial. I already read a preview where they say that it was so crucial it became frustrating.

There's a Giant Bomb 20 min quick look at the game. Shows you everything you wanted to know. It's seeming to be pretty solid, IF you're always doing the Spiderman stuff. The shooting stuff doesn't look too hot. But the environments are incredible.

thanks for that digi_matrix. That was a nice demo. Looks pretty cool actually.

I would like to be proven wrong but it just does not look that great at this point, keeping an open mind until it launches or we get a demo...

I don't know. I think visually the game looks kind of funky. The character also looks like he's been changed a little. He's not as bulky as before. I can't really tell if that's bad or better. It doesn't look like Capcom's best work for such an anticipated title. They've set the bar so high with Resident Evil5 that it's only right to expect more.

the beggining remind me of that intro of Crysis

What, RE 5 was a huge disappointment! After that, anything else done by Capcom is better.

This is being made by Grin in Sweden. They are the same studio that developed the PSN/XBLA conversion of the original Bionic Commando, and most recently released Wanted: Weapons of Fate for the 360, PS3, and PC. Like many of Capcom's high profile releases lately, it's all about outsourcing.

Now I'm not knocking Grin, nor am I really knocking this game. I think it looks pretty good. I was cautious approaching Street Fighter 4 when it was revealed that it too would not be developed internally at Capcom, but that turned out pretty fantastic.

I like the vertical scale that the levels have. It seems like it will give you a lot of room to swing and climb. I'm looking forward to playing this.. and.. ironically.. Wanted! (when it's not $50)

Indeed.
"Lets keep 1990's controls and gameplay, its as good as it can get!"
Yeah... Right...

In RE 4 and previous REs, the controls were manageable because you only have 3-4 enemies max on screen. In RE 5, you have 10 AT LEAST, and they keep on respawning. So, the controls are broken! At least don't nerf the knife, and make me able to move with knife! That would've been an evolution at least, Capcom.

The trailer reminded me of 3 things when I saw the arm move by itself.

1. Terminator.
2. Freddy Kreuger
3. Close up CG work of the main "weapon", like Crysis trailer was with the nanosuit.

But the game seems to be fun,I am getting Lost Planet feeling, too bad its not as atmospheric as that game, but cool non the less.

I really hope they release a demo on PSN before release, if not, then I have to go with my gut feeling, and so far, it looks great.

PS. The music is just badass, re-make of the original score from the composer of Jamie Christorpherson (same guy who also worked on Lost Planet).

Considering "forerunners" like Assassin's Creed, Crackdown etc. this looks pretty solid and smooth to me. I didn't see any framedrops nor screen tearing. Ok, it's probably not 60 fps.
