Video Xbox 360 PS3

EA and Double Fine are fine tuning Brutal Legend's October release. Meanwhile, they offer us no less than seventeen (!) minutes of gameplay commented by the brilliant creator of the game, Tim Schaffer. Brutal.

The combination of wanting to support black and because I know schafer makes solid games, along with the fact the vid makes the game seem pretty entertaining is why I'll buy it :D

Looks like your average hack and slash. This Tim guy gets way more credit than he deserves! Jack Black will have to carry this game, so let's hope for the best

I'm pinning a great deal of my hopes on Jack Black really bringing this thing home, but even with it seeming like an average hack and slash there is something really different feeling about it.

The writing looks very funny, haven't really laughed during a game in ages. Looks decent gameplay, the style and comedy makes me want to buy this.

Sometimes games are a story-telling medium. You can get laughs and just have fun with them without uber innovative gameplay mechanics. Consider me to be a not-so-hardcore gamer, but I don't jizz over having the most difficult puzzles and having a game that's 400 hours long. Just entertain me for a couple of days worth of 2-3 hour long play sessions, and I'm a happy camper. That's probably also why I rarely buy games, and I just rent them. If the multiplayer is something that will keep me playing for ages, I'll buy it... maybe I'm old-fashioned, but I typically play games for the single player experience, and then the multiplayer is what entertains me after that.

Perhaps I'm a rare breed :P

maybe we are :), this more or less the reason I love Heavenly Sword, my 2nd favourite game this gen. Brutal Legend is coming along swimmingly which is amazing, defo purchase for me, it's the writing more than anything else that is really apealing me to this game, and that's not to say it's other mechanics are sub-standard but more a case of it appealing to my affinity for story telling, now all it needs to do is come out :) and hopefully sell well, which would be compensation enough for Psychonauts infamous sales blunder.

The gameplay looks decent but yet another game with V-sync turned off and are there any physics in the game? The car was running into enemies and it was just pushing them aside with no reaction. A rental at best until I know they have fixed these problems.

The gameplay isn't terribly exciting, but if it isn't a chore and plays just fine, whats the problem if all the rest is just plain AWESOME!

+ Full Throttle, Psychonauts, Day of the Tentacle, The Secret of Monkey Island....

Tim Shafer is BIG guy in video game industry. Sadly, newbie gamers doesn't know this, because they newer played these classics.

Grim Fandango is one of my favorite games ever, but the only other game I've played from him is Psychonauts and I have to say I didn't like it.

I don´t get some of the complaints this game is recieving. It has the exact same gameplay that the Zelda series always get praise for, only much more awesome because it is based on rock and metal (IMO).

I will absolutely buy this game in Rocktober!

Pre-ordered.

Also, I agree that it is sad that no one seems to know who Tim Schafer is. His games are classic, and his humor guarantees that gameplay notwithstanding, his titles will be enjoyable.

hmmm still not sure about this one. The visuals are alot better than the screen shots have been given them credit for. But framerate could do with some work before release.
Also it kind of looks like he's floating above the ground rather than walking on it.

Heard this is an open world game? i hope its alittle deeper than a standard Hack'n Slash then
