I'm somewhat indifferent now about this. The gluttony of FPS's this gen has left me feeling rather jaded about this. I'm just not that excited about it, and reason being is the kind of hype and trailers such as this. It's like they are blowing smoke up their own assholes and feeling smug about it. Do something different like update your engine IW and then boast about it, because this is just the same forumla as 2001.

It'll be a good game, but I really don't think it's worthy of the hype of "most anticipated game of the decade". No it isn't!

I have to agree with your point of it not being worthy of "game of the decade" but you have to admit that from a business point of view, being able to generate this kind of global hype for a single product is actually amazing. Its broken all sorts of pre-order records and yes its obvious that the masses are going to buy into such a massive hype machine but think of it this way, with the revenue generated from sales of this, imagine the scale of future IW releases, including next gen!
Gamers are becoming more and more demanding of AAA titles and developers are needing bigger budgets to match these demands. If you want things to be bigger and better, youre going to have to buy into the hype.

So looking forward to this, bring it on!

Although, I fear the MP will be a global disaster for the firt couple of days atleast, maybe weeks. I don't think Live will be able to cope with the excessive amount of traffic... :(

@ Executioner - I suppose that's a positive way of looking at it, but it doesn't always translate to that. The trouble with devs who have built up massive success and reputation with trademark ip's, is that they usually get lazy or complacent. Look at R* with GTA 4; they dropped the ball with what people were expecting it to be. Sure it contained amazing tech, but it got boring..fast. My gripe with IW isn't with the MP aspect of its games; it's with the single-player campaign mode. I know, I haven't touched it yet, but I know what to expect, and it's more of the same: mow down hordes of soldiers and take a half dozen rounds to the face, hide, recover, repeat. It would be great if the series went to a somewhat sandbox type approach, with emphasis on AI and tactics, just to mix it up a little. Remember the first time we played the snow level in Goldeneye? Would be great to have that kind of diversity in the gameplay, where things are less scripted, and going all guns blazing is an option rather than a linear path forced upon you. Maybe I'm just expecting far too much.

Like I say, no doubt it will be a great game. Sort of like the big budget Hollywood action popcorn film. But the price hike and the insanity surrounding the launch where people will be in lines outside shops to grab it is something I just can't be arsed dealing with from launch day. I'll grab it for the sole reason that I bought a gold Live account, and it's gotten little to no use at all.

I can't wait for this game , hated the soundtrack though.

Many, many, many gamers have put hundreds and hundreds of hours into COD4. Many non-regular gamers I know have been hooked on the game for 2 years straight, ever since it released. This game is insanely popular!

So, I guess it depends on how you define "game of the decade", and I won't claim it is seeing as it's an endless and pointless discussion. But one thing's for sure: An improved, and built-upon COD4 will likely garnish an amazing following and there's a good chance it will be the most played game for the next 2-3 years. If that aint special, I don't know what is...

Somehow the idea of playing call of duty in space blows my mind, even after all thegames that have done it before.

I couldn't get past the abysmal 'music'. This game is the very definition of over hyped. Roll on next year when we can get some games with actual originality and creativity in them - Heavy Rain, The Last Guardian, Alan Wake etc.

Game looks awesome, got me wondering what the space bit is all about.

Well it is the most preordered game of the decade, or all time for that matter so I think that speaks for itself.

After playing a litttle Gears and Killzone 2 last week, I realize how tired those games have become and how nice it will be to get into the CoD series again.

CoD4 was some of the best online fun I've ever had, just the other millions of people who fell in love with that game.

I don't think MW2 is gonna break any ground, but I think it's gonna be like uncharted 2, taking already well established ideas but just putting a whole new level of polish on things. Only for IW, it's the online part of the game getting most of the polish. Thankfully.

But I'm starting to think BC2 might give this a run for it's money. That game is looking really promising.

I personally feel Uncharted 2 beats every other game to get GOTY awards.

Welcome to the age of console FPS gaming..

Don't expect something completly new until a new gen of hardware becomes available..

It probably is game of the year but in a year with few highlights. I enjoyed Uncharted 2 for the most part - beautiful visuals and production values for sure, but it was still just a shooter with the odd climbing bit here and there.

Next year looks *so* much better.

2009, a year with few highlights? WHAT?? I disagree completely. I enjoyed this year quite a lot, I still do.

Even though I think 2009 was awesome, I have to agree, 2010 is going to be way better. Maybe the best of this console generation.
