Unless The Last Guardian comes out next year, I suspect this will be GOTY 2010. As we've only had one truly great JRPG this gen (Lost Odyssey), this is long, long over due.

is this the japenese version ?

if the japanese version has english subtitles and language change then i might buy the jap version !!!

I can't wait either. Graphically I would say a good thing to do is compare these to the lost odyssey screens that came out before release. They didn't look great but the actual game (despite a few glitches) looked really good.

These screens in terms of detail also look a lot better than lost odyssey. And as far as I can think of the only really good jrpg of this generation is LO.

Now I just need to wait til march....or learn to read Japanese.

PS3 version, NA version. It is a deceptively quick turn around because Square Enix has been done with the JP version for months now and have been sitting on it (due to DQIX). The English version should be nearly done but will again be sat on until SO4 International comes out.

Looks ok-ish, but technology-wise SE seems to be 2 years behind the curve.

Agree with Ishigami. LO is not even my favourite Xbox360 JRPG. That honour goes to either Eternal Sonata or Tales of Vesperia (though both are technically multi-platform). LO was just too slow for me. Way too slow...

the cut scenes are absolutely 10/10 but ingame graphics 4/10.

Look great! One of the best looking game this gen.

I don't know what you guys are comparing it to, but the graphics are quite nice especially compared to the mediocre JRPG offerings of late.

bit of a backhanded compliment.. like when people say "this looks great..for a wii game".

I do think this looks good though, most of those pics are during battle..and JRPG's are pretty reluctant to evolve all that much..so you still get battles morphing to flat empty grids, which is probably why the screens look abit uninspired.

The character models are top class though, and i think the world will be detailed enough for you to see where those years of developements been spent.

Framebuffer screens always end up looking worse than what you'll see on your HDTV. See Bayonetta.

I think Lost Odyssey will be king until Lost Odyssey 2, Sakaguchi is Sakaguchi ^_^ Anyway I think it will be the best FF of the last 8 years, but that's not very difficult :P

Sakaguchi has not been good for a while IMO. Blue Dragon and Lost Odyssey were not that good, again IMO. And again, what fucking textures? You of course could not mean the abnormally close up shots of grass textures that should not be seen that close? Because that would just be nitpicky and stupid. But of course you don't mean that.

And it shouldn't be too difficult to be the best FF game in the last eight years seeing as how FFXI, FFXII and a bunch of FF remakes have been the only FF games for the past 8 years.

Looks excellent visually at least. Hope it plays as good as it looks.

Could be the first truly great RPG after a series of wishy-washy, so-so JRPGs on the Xbox 360 such as the pretty but bland Blue Dragon, the boring Lost Odyssey and the disappointment of the rest which were so forgettable I'm struggling to recall their names. Eternal Sonata was good at least but there hasn't been a truly great JRPG this generation IMO... yet.

Everything is cool, EXCEPT....that disgusting grass flat texture. Even simulators use grass blades. THAT texture is absolutely not next-gen.
