im starting to get worried cause none of the 360 screens or movies ive seen have had the dynamic shadows in them (the 20 min pc video that got leaked had dynamic shadows and stuff on the chains at the start of the dungeon) watched that same part on gamestop last night running off of the 360 and there were no shadows

yeah that shadow thing is weird....although in the 20min vid the shadows don't make sense, where they are in relation to the light source, the shadows aren't where they are suppose to be.... so i don't know, its strange that they would take out shadowing in the x360 version, i'd say they might have just turned it off so the framerate wasn't too bad for the show...who knows

It did look good in the video without the shadows. I was planning on playing the game as a thief/archer type character now that the game has real shadow graphics and dark corners enough to sneak around in... I really wish someone wouldve just asked a developer and put them on the spot about it. It would stink if the game didnt have dynamic shadows on the xbox becaues most likely it can be done, they might just not have enough time to optomize it to get it working at an acceptable framerate.

I hope it plays as good as it looks.
I really didnt like Morrowind, but with Elder Scrolls 4 a lot of weak points seem to have been eliminated. So this is a Must Buy to me...I hope this time i wont be dissapointed.

I think the shadow thing will be rectified before release. Maybe they were simply turned off for the demo for framerate purposes. After all, framerates are one of the very last things that are dealt with in the developement of a game, sometimes only days before it's release. So, it could be because of framerates not being optimized to handle the shadows yet.

If by some very odd chance that the 360 version does not have shadows, it will be totally MS fault!! Not the fault of the devs, and not the fault of the system. After all, it does have 3 64bit CPU cores at 3.2 ghz, and a video chip more advanced than an r520. MS is just not giving these talented devs enough time to finish their games, and it IS going to bite them in the ass. I still stand, the 360 should not be released this early!

All these developers are very experienced at tight development times though.
I don't think there's a single game that isn't being handled by a company with at least 5 years exp. in the industry.
The fact that there are major improvements just from TGS (which was only about 3 weeks ago) is a testament to that.
I hear these builds at the X05 aren't even current, so there are still improvements that have already been made, and continue to be made.

I don't think launch day is priority enough to warrant an unfinished title being released, for ANY company.
Plus, there have been no concrete release list.
There's that whole "Launch Window" thing that people can still work with (3 more months, which is a helluva lot of time to polish up stuff)

Why do I make posts like this?

this is without a doubt the best launch in videogame history!!!

shadows were ON in the E3 demo (running on a weak ATI 9800, with a respectable framerate), and OFF in the gamespot interview with Pete. hopefully it will run good on the 360 with shadows turned on by launch. most people are worried that it wont run on their high end PCs. well i think im going to just get it for my beast of a PC. ive got a 6800GT and theres no reason it shouldnt run perfectly smooth with dynamic shadows and everything on max.

just dont forget it was shown unoptimized on an ATI 9800 at E3!!! so theres no reason it shouldnt run really well on a high end machine. why is everyone on the oblivion forums forgetting this.

Geforce 6800GT and everything on Max? Hardly.

But Shadows are a sure thing in the final version. Of course they are.. They play a major role in the stealth aspect of the game, would be stupid if they werent turned on.

I'm really not liking the latest screens. They all suck. They do the game no justice.
You really have to see this one in motion to understand why it's so gorgeous.

And I'm not worried about the shadows being turned on. Bethesda will definately include them in the final product. I mean, they have to. It's an improtant part of the stealth gameplay.

well did you by any chance see the leaked E3 demo? it obveously had everything on max including the dynamic shadows, and it ran great on that weak 9800. so yes i expect to run it on max with a great framerate too. why shouldnt i. the devs on elderscrolls forums have said everyone is over reacting on the specs, and that the game will run great on any card which is at least better than their 9800s are

this will be the best game for a long time.

on another note: this is one of those games where the amazing graphics come from the amazing 3D textures, not extremely high polygon counts. like doom 3, it looked AMAZING on pc, yet had such amazing performance too.

that amazing looking brick wall in oblivions prison cell is really only 2 or 3 polygons, yet it LOOKS like its made of thousands at least. what they did was model it at thousands then save it into a 3d texture. amazing
