Recently unveiled, Majin and the Forsaken Kingdom shows itself a little bit more with this set of 40 images from Namco-Bandaï. The game is scheduled for a Fall 2010 release on Xbox 360 and PS3.
yeah visuals look terrible in those screens. I know people here throw around "ps2 standard" alot but some of those screens could easily be mistaken for a ps2 game with the poor quality of the textures.
Have to see it in motion.. it's not out till winter and polish is usually the last thing to happen in a games developement
wow this looks good, it doesn't look like ps2 unless you guys were playing some ps2 games I don't know about (or fixed camera ps2 games)... it has a ico feel to it as well... curious to see more.

Maybe studio Ghibli sans the personality. Myazaki's characters are much more alive than this stuff( which is really where his work shines)...
You know, i kind of doubt that Miyazaki draws and animates everything, especially since the ghibli movies he doesn't direct still look just as good as the ones that he is involved in. A lot of the personality in the studio ghibli productions comes from the excellent animation and how the characters are built. These shots sort of convey something like that to me. The world, while not high in polygons or texture resolutions, looks inviting and fresh and while the character design is something that bothered me at first, the more i look at it the more i like it tbh. I just hope that the music and gameplay delivers as well, then we might have a great game here i think.
Yeah, but typically you have the concept artist who does the general feel and main design. Then the leads plot out the keyframes. After that, you have your peons do the tweening. All Myazaki needs to do is set the tone.
I understand what you mean though. My problem is that the guy looks very zombie. I want something like Blue Dragon were you can see the animation and personality even in the stills...

I like the look of this.
Graphics could be better but gamplay>graphics any day of the week.
Well when you are trying to go for a stylized look, a unique visual identity, you need to be willing to make an engine with at least decent fidelity, so as not to ruin the effect of your style and design.

I think it looks interesting.
Personally I prefer a good art style over tech if I have to choose.
And btw, this games was in development long before The Last Guardian was announced, so it's definitaly not just a ripoff...
