Images PC Xbox 360 PS3

With the release date approaching, it is no surprise to see April has brought some new images of Alpha Protocol. Action/RPG fans have until May 28 in Europe and June 1 in North America to get ready to become a spy.

Is it just me, or does some particular objects look... cel shaded? The Speakers on fourth pic for instance...

However, doesn' look that good graphically, especially not aesthetically (seirously, can you come up with a more uninspired art style?) -- but then I can't say I expect a Unreal Engine 3 RPG -- also developed by an American studio -- to look good. ;p

i dont have a problem with the visuals. Dragon age looks far worse and that didnt hurt the game.

The thing that worrys me is from what i've seen it seems to have a very erratic framerate..which, after an extra year of polish, isn't acceptable

And Nepton, Mass effect 2 uses the UE3 engine - nuff said

bleached: Yeah, it does, and it suffers from bad anti aliasing, flickering shadows, odd-looking textures in many close-ups and also some strange, jerky transitions in cut-scenes etc.

Yeah, some parts of Mass Effect 2 look great (alien character models, some texture work and environments), but from a technical stand point I don't see what's special about. It's actually quite flawed, too many small things that annoys me. And in a game that focus so much at close-ups conversations, it's just weird they didn't put more effort in the characters models (mostly mean the human characters now, including the one you're playing yourself). The hair on your own character just looked terrible, and yet there're only six haircuts or something to choose between. That's not acceptable imo.

Also, what I really don't like in western RPG:s (or many genres overall) is the lack of detail and personality in environments. There're so much empty places. I've seen some indoor environments from Alpha Protocol and it just looks really poor.

With that said, I don't mean that ME2 doesnt look great at times -- because it really does. I thought the city of Illium looked excellent.

But maybe the PC version looks better, haven't played it and can't tell if you're basing your opinons on that one.

This game struggles BIG TIME with its look. It doesnt seem to decide which way it wants to go: Realistic or cartoony... The end result is more confused than nice looking not to mention that, technically speaking, it's average at best!

Another thing, they have pushed this game so many times and then decided to release it around Splinter Cell, a game of mostly the same genre. This will epically fail, Im afraid.

I assume you only played the 360 version? On the PC Dragon Age looks pretty bloody great, and the animation alone takes a tinkle on what we've seen of Alpha Protocol.

I've the 360 version..and in no way does it "suffer" from bad anti aliasing, flickering shadows, or odd looking textures, in any noticable, distracting fashion. It's one of the best looking games on the console.. and certainly the best looking game that makes use of the UE3 engine to date imo.

I actually think it looks cleaner than the previous images that were released a few months ago. It's not the prettiest or most realistic game, but if I can get some decent visuals, a smooth framerate, a cool story, and great gameplay, then I'm in for some more spy gaming on top of my copy of Splinter Cell Conviction.

Well one particular (maybe not important)thing i hate , are those static slides that dont blow back when youre shooting or those damn magazines that simply dont slide out , i mean come on arent the developers noticing that ? it must be easy as shit to program those little tiny things which are adding so much more realism . this lazyness just bothers me ,aside from the robotic and way to fast movements of the charachters in the game !

I have the PS3 version, still looks like shit but worst... plays like KOTOR shittiness. But look ahead or performance quirks, i still think it doesn't stop it from being the best RPG Experience on the system.
