Assassin's Creed 2 at Comic-Con

Assassin's Creed 2 at Comic-Con

Ubisoft put together a discussion panel at Comic-con about Assassin's Creed 2, and here is a video of highlights and interviews from the expo.

Ubisoft press release:

Today Ubisoft detailed a panel around Assassin’s Creed II to be held on July 23, 2009 from 1:45–2:45 p.m. in Room 6A at Comic-Con in San Diego. The panel entitled “Assassin’s Creed II: Video Games and Hollywood Converge” will touch on the evolution of entertainment creation and distribution while highlighting the bridge between video games and film. Panel hosts will be Yannis Mallat, chief executive officer at Ubisoft Montreal and Pierre Raymond, founder and chief executive officer of Hybride Technologies, the visual effects studio behind 300 and Sin City, along with special guest Corey May, Assassin’s Creed II video game scriptwriter.

Recently, during the E3 Expo in Los Angeles, Ubisoft announced production at Hybride Technologies on a series of short films based on the upcoming Assassin’s Creed II video game. The Comic-Con panel will include a discussion of the production of these short films, a viewing of a teaser video showing new shots from the filming and development of the short film series, as well as the first public demonstration of the Assassin’s Creed II video game.

“Ubisoft has detailed our vision for convergence over the past two years. Now, at Comic-con, we are exclusively revealing one of the first building blocks to this strategy: Assassin’s Creed II: Lineage,” said Yannis Mallat. “We’ll be discussing the links between the game and the short film series with some of the key players of the project. We are thrilled to be able to share the results of our efforts with the Comic-com audience.”

Honestly, what I heard was 'blablabla....'. The usual PR talk.

And what is with the audience? Are they having orgasms over footage that was already shown at E3?

Over 15 missions. I guess he was talking about the boring side missions you had to play to be able to do the next assassination. I don't care if there are 5 or 15 or 100 missions. What I want are missions that are relevant to the story. Not a number of missions I can pick from. It didn't work in the first AC, so why add more?

The missions were relevant to the story. Pay attention next time.

In what way were the missions of importance to the story? Steal some documents (you never get to read what is on the documents. The eves (no idea how you write that word) dropping? The kill-some-one-you-don't-know missions? The get-some-useless-information-by-beating-one-guy missions?

What I mean by relevant is a side mission structure that eventually leads to a climax assassination.

The side missions certainly needed improving and this wasn't obvious but they were relevant to the main assassination. If you went back to the Amicus (sp) and looked at it, it would give you information about guard patrols, escape routes, where the target is likely to be etc etc.

I couldn't get myself to finish the first. It got boring so quickly. It was too repetitive for me to take. I'm glad they are adding some more variety this time around, but I think I'll be passing on this one. Maybe a rent will suffice.

I'm liking Altair's new design as far as clothing goes. The graphics improved nicely but I'm not the slightest bit hyped for this.

It's not Altair.

Too bad the first game was so bad, I can't see myself being hyped for this.
