this is another game thats left me abit disappointed in the new footage. I had high hopes after seeing how amazing it looked in the E3 demo. This though looks very bland in comparrison. It also simply looks like it needs more polish.. too much screen tearing, and even popups, and it looks to be at a lower resolution.. though that could just be the footage.

What's with the NPC models?

That is pretty weak.

Atleast those that could/can run AC on PC wont have much of a problem running AC2, maybe a bit more upgraded but not much to play it without any big problems.
I hope Ubisoft adds VSync and AA for this game atleast vsync because the screentearing is bad.

I am sure there will be graphical mods that will make AC2 much more beautiful with HDR effects like they did with AC1.
Here is an example http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=aqUVn3Ciy9o

The only thing that I like about AC2 is the hidden gun, dual hidden blades, the combat being upgraded with melee counter and to be able to use any weapon in the game, even though I am a sword lover :)

But anyways, I do hope this one is better and keep the experience fresh (missions) until we end the game unlike AC1.

i think the visuals are pretty weak in general, textures are pretty shoddy too. if it wasnt for the pretty nice art style, it would look pretty terrible imo.

btw, where do they find these voice over commentor people, this is 2 video's in the past week with crap narrators (this and demon souls)

looks better then the first tho, just not by enough to get me excited. i have a feeling it will still suffer from repetition, despite their efforts to fix that issue from the the first game.

looks a good upgrade over the first to me

Well they've added more and more, and in Assasins creed's case, that's just what we need. I hope they add even more layers to the game, and it doesn't become a snore fest after an hour.

Well, if you liked the first one, like me, then you're probably excited about this, since it seems like they just took the AC principles (fighting, climbing, free running, assassinations) and made them more expansive (more weapons, new climbing and running movies, different ways to assassinate). But it certainly doesn't look like a whole new game, which is what it seems like a lot of people on this page seem to want. Oh well, if you don't want it, I'll be able to get a pre-owned copy cheaper, like I did with the first, so its fine with me if you all don't like AC...

Not sure where some of these complaints are coming from. The game has a day and night cycle, so of course the textures aren't going to be like Gears or Uncharted. Those textures have to be rendered for multiple light levels.

And the NPCs look about the same, perhaps a little better than the first, which still looks better than almost every other GTA-style open world game. If you're pessimistic about the game that's one thing, but to suggest that the visuals are anything other than an extremely impressive feat for the current consoles is just insane.

It seems like they went beserk with AC2 trying to fix what was wrong with the first one. which is really nice. It seems like it'll be a vast and deep game now. Though the money system seems kind of intrusive, keeping you from playing in a nice momentum or otherwise being useless for having too much of it. I really like the movement and exploration of the first, this one seems to expand so I think i'll get it.

I don't know. Something seemed strange about that video. The screen tearing was obviously due to the video capture and not the game's engine. The first game didn't do that nearly as much. There was also something strange going on with those smeared textures; almost a downgrade from the first game. I'm sure the game will please fans of the first nevertheless.

Oh, and I forgot to mention, the Prince-of-Persia-esque extra levels look awesome! One of the highlights for me in Infamous were the uplink missions where they took the excellent movement engine they created and basically made a mini-game out of that alone. It looks like the AC team has done something similar here, and give those of us who like the free-running and climbing aspects (opposed to, say, the combat) of the game something to really enjoy.

The first one was so boring and repetitive. I would prefer Ubisoft concentrate their efforts on another franchise to be honest.

looks crap to me,1st one was boring, this looks just as bad, but then agai nthe narrator wasnt exactly full of beans

They'd better not release Gametrailers footage of this or the game till turn into Assasins Creed 1!
Commented on 2009-09-10 19:49:17
Visually, I was expecting it to looks better. However, if they can improve on the repetitive gameplay and controls I'll still check it out.

the screen tearing was simply do to the 30fps video conversion. i wonder if gamersyde can put up a 60fps version.

A 60 fps Ubisoft game? They can barely manage 25 fps most of the time. I'd like an official statement on that 60 fps, because to me that seem highly unlikely.
Commented on 2009-09-10 20:52:31
you might be right jato. but i just noticed that the video is only 24fps. so it could still be a valid reason. (conversion from 30fps)

I'm a bit... confused, really. The E3 footage had me very excited, partly because of some nice additions but mostly because it looked absolutely gorgeous. So, what the heck has happened? It now looks bland and nothing outstanding - it's supposed to look better as its development goes on, not worse.
