Atlus announces Baroque

Fans of dungeon-crawling RPGs will be pleased to learn the development of a videogame called Baroque by Atlus. Defined as hardcore, it is awaited for the Playstation 2 and Nintendo Wii systems in February 2008 (North America). Its official website just went live with the very first screenshots from the PS2 build. This production rymes with dark fantasy and metaphysic monsters. It's promising and gives me Shin Megami Tensei flashbacks.

Mmmm, the Shin Megami Tensei series on the PS2 was fantastic, very original and enjoyable. I'm liking the style of this, as it's got a familiar feel while still retaining a wholly original style. It actually almost reminds me of Gungrave (the art style).

So if this is hardcore, what's Nethack?

Looks ok, about time Atlus jumped on this generations console though.

Atlus' definition of hardcore is grinding. I think I'll pass.

i think thats the definition of hardcore for any dungeoncrawler rpg (nevermind pretty much the basis of all their gameplay). don't like grinding you should probably pass on the subgenre as a whole, period.

I always wanted to play this on Saturn (it's a saturn game originally and supposedly quite a good one at that) but the whole being in japanese thing put me off it.

I'll definitely pick it up if it comes out here.

Played the PS1 port of the Saturn original back in the day, it was OK, hope they improved it somewhat.
