BD Bad Company: Redford

BD Bad Company: Redford

The multiplayer beta of Battlefield: Bad Company is still quite popular on Xbox Live, but DiCE and EA want us to remember that this game is the first of the series to get an actual single player mode with a story and interesting characters. This new video unveils a bit more of how the sergeant Clarence Redford thinks, and he sure doesn't seem to enjoy being there...

Anyone here played the beta? The other Battlefield games weren't really my thing. But it seems this one actually has a story.

They put 3 actors in the game from the movie Three Kings. (George Cloony Ice Cube and Mark Wahlberg). Are they trying to go Three Kings with this game, you know with the gold and stuff? (that would be interesting)

I have played the beta about 4 times not been on since the 1st week it was out..

I played it for a few hours and gave my opinion on the forum thread. It's slow and clunky like any other console battlefield game which im afraid puts it way behind COD4 in terms of playability.

Am I the only one thinking that this 'new guy' could well be the player-character? ;o

Its the engine. Just a bit more AA I think.

Weird.. I'm a huge fanboy of the franchise and I think the beta is sorta awful. I hated Modern Combat as well, though. I think the single player aspect of this title will help it sell considerably better than it would without it.

I don't think it's doctored in any way. There are lots of aliasing issues, shadow filtering is better in some games (Uncharted), explosions could be better and so on. Looks real time rendered to me.

Yep didnt look at all like CGI, looks like ingame from all the prior footage already shown.

But it was still video footage thats my point, it was not in IN game, hence i do expect superior animation

CG or In game engine it dont matter end of the day it was NOT "playable section"

Point taken, but from a certain point of view no trailer is a "playable section" as it were...

It is if the trailer is actually showing off a playable section of the game, a section that when you own the game you be able to play it.

This argument could go on and on realy thinking about it ?

I suppose someone could say that certain "cut scenes" in shenmue was playable, due to the button mashing during its play, making it playable yet not playable ?

man you make the assumption. We dont know what the transition from ingame engine cutscenes to gameplay will be. But the engine looks great!

*holds head in hands* i am not on about the visuals, i am on about the animation in that video, i am just saying that its a video (using ingame engine or not) and using animations made specificly for that scene, when your ingame playing the game the animation will not be that solid, but good none the less

In the video footage of halo 3 you see the master chief doing certain animation not possible ingame, due to they was specific for the video, same in this case..does no one see my point ?

Just saying you cant say "awesome animation" when all you watched was a Video section of a NONE playable part of the game

What's up?
  • SimonM7
SimonM7 Yeah, you have had netflix for ages too. We got Zune Marketplace now though and can finally rent stuff on the 360. The points system on the 360 is retarded when you wanna rent a movie though. (5 Hours ago)
  • Phaethon360
Phaethon360 It's been in the US for a while. (6 Hours ago)
  • SimonM7
SimonM7 Destructoid was talking about a video rental service on the PS3. Has that launched in europe yet? If so, is it only accessible in select countries? (7 Hours ago)
  • SimonM7
SimonM7 Yep. Kinda disappointing considering this was Oshii's contribution (of Ghost in The Shell fame), I honestly expected a lot better. (7 Hours ago)
  • dcdelgado
dcdelgado @SimonM7: yYeah did not like the art style but i lovd the way they dig into the halo lore and not concentrate on the cheif or spartans all the time, Babysitter is still my fav though. (8 Hours ago)
  • Doom_Bringer
Doom_Bringer just finished Dragon Age this evening. Overall another Bioware hit but the story is a little too simple...no big shocks like KOTOR here. Your choices really do matter big time though. GOTY 8.7/10 (8 Hours ago)
  • SimonM7
SimonM7 Yeah the art style ended up looking like utter garbage. The music saves the drama some though. (8 Hours ago)
