Don't know for releasedate yet but i couldn't care less , just wait and hasitate
As for this game, it looks as if the graphics have been spruced up somewhat. I can't put my finger on what it is, but it deffinitely looks better than the original. I'm not going to jump and say "GOTY already", because that would be ridiculous. It does look very interesting, though. The thing is, isn't this a prequel rather than a sequel?
@dingleberry - no, this is a sequel...the MP is a prequel...i'd have prefered this game to be a prequel tbh. but either way the games backdrop, as good as it was the first time around...isnt doing anything for me anymore. it feel very lazy to me.
The first game had me completely mesmerised, but this... it just didn't impress me at all. The atmosphere's still there (I think), the graphics are the same (if not a little bit better), but it just looked dull.
I can't put my finger on it, but maybe the Rapture scene's getting a bit old - I always thought there shouldn't be a sequel/prequel. Also, there seems to be no weight at all to the Big Daddy (who is meant to be extremely heavy, right?); he was almost floating around Oblivion/Fallout 3 style.
Just a big, fat 'meh'.
I think this will be great, can't wait to explore more of rapture and outside of rapture.
Offcourse you could say the same for any ip, but I just feel the main theme of this game, which is just this feeling of discovering and underwater world, made Bioshock so awesome. That feel is completely gone now as I just feel..."been there, done that!"
Also, playing as a big daddy is a HUGE mistake imo...the animations on him are terrible and the strikes he blows lack any sense of impact...there's no "oomph". I'm still interested as the production values seem spot on and overall it has plenty quality and it looks like fun, but the experience won't be what made Bioshock so fantastic to begin with...
But still a very cool game.. The added MP will add a lot of replayability to the game.. Bioshock 1 you played maybe twice (to try both pathes and see both endings), but after that never touched the game again (which is a shame, but that's what happens with SP only games)..
you never felt compelled to actually go back and revisit that amazing setting that was Rapture, which was a great shame, because it's arguably the most realized and imaginative world to have existed in a game to date.
It might seem like the Big Daddy is all too powerful in the video, but there's no reason to believe that this is the beginning of the game or the middle..
So you might get more simpler plasmids and weapons to start and have to build up to the ones displayed here..
Hopefully this won't suck as bad as the first one.
But even even being only textures, the real time reflections in water are drop-dead gorgeous. I must say, they put a great effort into this. a parallax or normal-mapped texture that reflects environment in real time... WOW INDEED!
Think Fallout 3 but in Rapture, that sums it up pretty well. All of the separate buildings, shops, businesses, homes... and entering each one isn't a simple A to B affair but a multi-roomed multi-path affair.
