Why don't all these remasters come out in the summer when there is nothing to play? This and skyrim would perfect for that. Instead they keep coming out when there are so many new games being released.

Agreed. A lot of these remasters would sell much more when there's fewer games being released, specially none or very little AAA games, as they would get far more attention. The same is also true for smaller-budget games. A lot of people in the industry have echoed this same sentiment for over a decade now, but most publishers just don't care.

@GamerSyde:

For BioShock: The Collection, it's also important to mention that PC owners who have BioShock 1 and 2 already will automatically be upgraded at no cost. And that the PC version of BioShock Infinite has not had any upgrades, since 2K notes it is already up to scratch with "current console standards".

Don't know when you played Bioshock last, but at least the screenshots look substantially better than the vanilla game. Which i playted yesterday.

Nice remaster were the ground textures looks like xbox 360. Guess they just ramped up the res to 1080 and the framerate to 60...

That's the problem today, don't mean to pick on you syder(my favourite drink BTW, apple cider), too many people willing to buy the same game over and over.

This is a terrible "remaster" it's just the PC version(and not even on the highest settings) of the games at 1080p and hopefully a steady 60fps but don't hold your breath.

After 2K messed up Evolve with their shitty money grabbing ways, they want to milk the Bioshock franchise that doesn't really need a remaster. They should do a more worthwhile remaster like Red Dead Redemption and release a PC version so that we can mod the hell out of it.

Againt one fake 'remaster' that nobody needs. I was hoping for a port of all three games to Unreal Engine 4. Looks like it will be the usual retouching that gives console players a higher resolution / framerate (compared to the originals), which nobody on PC needed.

I will rebuy cause i'm a fan of the franchise.
Also i don't play on pc.
It will sell well because a lot of people still haven't played them or don't have the ability to play it anymore.(some PCs can't)
If you already own the game, the patch will be free i heard.

Some people will always have issues with any given game, that's not the same as "on most modern PCs". Running games from like 10 years back is not exactly a massive issue in most casesEven in the cases where support for 16:9 or 16:10 resolutions isn't available you can usually circumvent that either by editing some ini, or by using a fan patch or some similar solution.

Most of those issues, in this particular case, seem to be easily fixed by editing a few ini files.

I'm not particularly agains the re-release if that's what they want to do though, and people want to buy it. Just pointing out that the idea of it being in dire need or a remake because of compatibility issues seems like complete bollocks.

First of all, they are not advertising this as a remaster, but a "collection". So they got that going for them.

On the other hand, shame on anyone buying this if you have the others. You are making these publishers rich, every time they give you less and less, they invest less and gets tons of money for their crappy efforts. Sad thing is this works, hence we are seeing this more and more. Even though I have all three previous games on different platforms, there's no way I'll be supporting this crap.

Going from 720p 30fps to 1080p 60fps Is enough for me.
I never took that much shit for buying something lol.
If you feel ripped off don't buy it but don't go telling people what they have to do.
Shame on me? haha lol

They wouldn't dare charge PC gamers for the same game(Bioshock) they have been playing running on the same engine at 1080p 60fps and higher resolutions max settings 9 years ago, no-one would buy it unless it had extra content and was dirt cheap.

I get that you are a fan of the franchise and not a PC gamer and have to buy all these multiplatform "remasters" like DMC, COD4, etc etc in order to play them at 1080p, and it is a shame especially as playing at the higher res and framerate helps the gameplay and you never experienced it like this till now.

I have bought games like Last of us Remastered, Uncharted collection etc and can't help but say that if these games were on PC I would not have had to rebuy them to play them at a higher resolution and framerate with harder difficulties afforded by the better framerates and resolution.

Take for instance I can play every Assassin's creed game released at 1440p and higher resolutions at 60fps and higher without having to re-purchase the games. 2K is known for their greedy ways and that greed has ruined some of their up and coming franchises with great potential like Evolve.

Have fun playing Bioshock at 1080p medium to high settings and hopefully at a steady 60 fps, I have been there and done more than that 9 years ago. Consider PC gaming in your future, it's great and much cheaper and better than it was 10 years ago, and if not that's cool too, but just be prepared to rebuy multiplatform games over and over. :P

I have been a pc gamer from half life 1 to doom 3 and never again
I 'm tired of buying pc parts and spend hours troubleshooting crashes and stuff over and over. :P With a console i'm settled for more than 6 years. Also the ease of use.
I don't buy a lot of games so steam sales won't make that much difference.
And for other games i just keep my old consoles.

I only rebuy this game , i'm not funding the loong term destruction of this industry lol.
I wouldn't rebuy The last of us since i'm not FAN of it. I liked it a lot but why have a better version if i'm satisfied with the first one ? . It's no Bioshock or Doom to me.
I don't care that pc gamers can play on ultra.
My neighbor has a bigger tv than me. I care more about that itch in my back :P

From Doom3 and HL2 onwards(2004 to now) is when PC gaming became very sweet with the introduction of Shader Model 3 tech and the Nvidia 600 series of GPUs. I think you left PC gaming when it started to be become very refined and user friendly, everything plug and play and straight forward for the most part.

Console only gaming is cool as well but it's not good enough for me, I hate repurchasing the same game over and over, and I like to play mods of games and I like tweeking them, but I can understand the desire for simplicity, but having said that console gaming is becoming more like PC gaming with day one patches and game breaking bugs happening more often than not.

Hey man, whatever makes you happy, you do that, scratch that itch. Just don't destroy the industry with your remastered games buying ways. :)

As i said I don't usually buy remasters and nobody forces you to.
I just wish people wouldn't need to convert others to justify their personnal choices if you know the kind i mean.
Glad for you that you understand that different people enjoy different things.
It's not the norm on the discussing internet.
I only have an account here and rarely post because of what you can read in this thread.
I get that there's not much else to do than argue but sometimes you just feel like talking to a wall.

"Just don't destroy the industry with your remastered games buying ways." I was joking, I couldn't care less what people buy or not, more power to them, but at the same time I would never stop thinking and stating my opinion when I can that this Bioshock "remaster" is a terrible "remaster"(just look at the terrible texture quality on the floor http://images.gamersyde.com/image_bioshock_the_col...) and unnecessary from the perspective of a PC and console gamer, but clearly not in your opinion and from your perspective as a console only gamer, so we'll have to agree to disagree, which is fine. Not all remasters are bad though, just most of them.

COD4 remastered, really?!

The blurry texture on the floor is due to bad filtering (think bilinear vs anisotropic)
Maybe a beta issue.
Cod 4 runs smooth on every old platforms it was ported so i agree that it's useless to rebuy it but think of all the kids that started cod with black ops 2 or 3.
They all heard tha cod4 is the best of the franchise so they'll jump on it since they didn't play it (new console players)
They just catter to the "i heard of that game before" audience witch is fine.
I can understand the bitterness some could have when hearing that their game isn't the definitive edition and how this practice smells greed but collections like bioshock were begged over and over thru years on every forums i read.

Edit:This collection is not really a remaster and people who already have the game will have the update for free on pc

This logic is sound and can be applied to any and every console game, that is what I have a problem with, and is the worst aspect of console only gaming.

Hence the reason I only get my multiplatform games on PC, no-one is going to nickel and dime me when I can avoid it.

You are right, everyone wants to have the definitive version of their favourite games, that's why I get the PC version whenever possible, because it usually tends to be the definitive version of any game.
