I'd write more news if there actually was something to report. Now the Xbox 360 has been released we are back to our usual stuff of hoping there will be something to report and watching the big US sites get all the interesting stuff.
Ho well.

How about some later stuff from Outpost Kaloki? Looked interesting but there is hardly anything to find about that game. Or any of the arcade games.

Wow, it looks very DBZ and kinda reminds me of Inuyasha character design.

Thanks for the scans BlimBlim. I hope there's more interesting stuff to come.

Graphically it looks pretty good, even though it's crap quality. But I just hate Akira Toriyama's designs. The guy is one of the worst artists i've seen. His designs remind me of stuff I use to draw when I was in elementary school. Witht hat said, I'm still really looking forward to this game

Why are you not up there with Toriyama then?

If you don`t like it say that. Not critize the skills.

Oh..by the way I am new here.Love what you have done with the site.

Are you going to do reviews also in the future?

His design's are horrible. His characters always have plain generic faces, and their hair always consists of triangles. His stuff is really repetetive. They might as well call this Blue Dragon Ball Z.I've already seen people mistekn this for DBZ You wan't to see a great artist with talent? Look at Kazuma Kaneko, the person responsible for the character designs in digital devil saga and the rest of the SMT series.Easily my favorite. No one comes close

Guess this could easily be mistaken for DBZ, but i don't mind. Why? Because i LOVE the desgin's of that serie. To bad they got crappy Dragonball GT out, really ruind everything for me....

if it's in-game they might as well just release it on the PS2. This is my least anticipated JRPG on the 360, though I don't like turn based RPGs much, I'm looking forward to at least one or two good ones. But this isn't impressive.

Toriyama's style is one of the most recognizable in the entire world. It doesn't matter if you love it or hate it because it's recognizable. That's all that matters. But the reason Toriyama is so famous isn't for his characters alone. It's for his great Dragonball comic. He creates interesting worlds, which is why I'm looking forward to his work on Xbox 360.

I think it's cool that (in terms of visual presentation, anyway) Blue Dragon is like the next-gen Chrono Trigger and Lost Odyssey is like the next-gen FF6, arguably the two greatest games Square has ever produced (the only two decent ones, actually).

If that's really realtime, it's the single most advanced stuff came out from the 360 so far. First time i see something getting near to global illumination quality. Impressive.

Art and character designs are all done by the guy behind DBZ if I'm not mistaken

Can I link to the competition?
Check out Kikizo's interview with Sakaguchi where he discusses Blue Dragon and a bit of Lost Odyssey. Good stuff.

Hopefully there'll be a followup interview soon.

Not a fan of Toriyama's work at all--and someone in this thread compared him to Rumiko Takahashi, :~~~(, she's my favorite. Neither style is actually generic in any true sense of the word, they've both just been so emulated over the years that it may seem so..with that being said, I still think Toriyama is mostly over-rated and over-used.

The #1 reason I can't play Dragon Ball Z Quest 8. ;)

The designs look really good for this game, quit thinking about DBZ, this will be good for Microsoft in Japan

With the extreme overexposure the DB series have had you really can't blame anyone for instantly thinking of DBZ when they see Toriyama's work--especially since pretty much everything he does looks identical.

And of course this will be good for Microsoft in Japan--just because some people don't like the artists work doesn't mean that he's not popular. DBZ for whatever (bad) reason is huge yet today, all over the world. Still, you can't expect someone who is generally turned off by Toriyama's artwork to think these designs are any different..just like Dragon Ball Z Quest VIII. This time it's Blue Dragon Ball ;)

Toriyama + "Dragon" = success.

I hope you can't go super saiyan.
