Civ BE: Rising Tide shows Diplomacy

Civ BE: Rising Tide shows Diplomacy

Here's a new gameplay video of Rising Tide, the upcoming expansion for Sid Meier's Civilization: Beyond Earth. It deals with the enhanced diplmoacy system and the new ways to build relationships. We've also added the first featurette from last month which shows how to colonise the ocean. The addon is coming on October 9.

Featurette 1 – Colonise the Ocean
Featurette 2 – A New Diplomatic Landscape

I hope this game ends up being more interesting after a couple of expansions.

Yeah.. have to agree. It's tough to go back to at this point. If I want Civ I'm more likely to play Civ V because it's a much better game nowadays. But maybe after this expansion (and future expansions.. Civ V got a ton of support) I'll go back to it. It's not a bad game at all.. I just prefer Civ V.

And the core game is free to play for the weekend on Steam by the way.

I'm hoping that this raises the level of play as well because Civ:BE didn't turn out to be the experience that I was looking for. It has none of the depth or the narrative of Alpha Centauri. It doesn't even try to be a fair spiritual successor to it either.

And I really wish that Firaxis had found a way to merge BE and Starships together. Because separately they both seem like unfinished concepts.

It's a shame too because the music and sound of this game coming out of my desktop's soundbar is beautiful.

About the game

What's up?
  • Melmoth
Melmoth @KORNdog: the headset itself is selling for almost $600. It's unusually expensive considering there's proper distribution of sony products here in retail. (58 minutes ago)
  • KORNdog
KORNdog @Melmoth: it seems cheaper to break things down and buy older stick. Like the sqare design camera can be had for less than the new one. And old move controllers less than the ore packaged VR ones. (1 Hour ago)
  • Melmoth
Melmoth lol, PSVR (with camera) will sell for $650 here in Norway. talk about overpricing stuff. the console itself isn't expensive ($350) (2 Hours ago)

crookedmind ... in Doom 3 I was begging for the game to end after 300 something levels, Doom kept me interested the entire time. They tried to keep to their simple FPS gameplay, and they succeeded. (2 Hours ago)

crookedmind @Tinks: It's Doom, and stays true to its series. I personally enjoyed the single player (uncharacteristically) a lot... (3 Hours ago)
  • GriftGFX
GriftGFX Not really.. it's a solid, forgettable okay. But they did at free for all anyway. (3 Hours ago)
  • Tinks
Tinks I've heard the MP is awesome too though? Underrated even (3 Hours ago)
