I might get it, its not modern era but different years in Cold War so its a plus for me.

From the MP videos, it looks more balanced than MW2, less manual airsupports and less cheapness from killstreaks...so it seems.
Though perks like Commando, Ninja...etc. and double shotgun akimbos and such are gonna piss me off if they are in it.

I like the MP modes that has one bullet one kill or the other one were any kill you get you advance in weapon arsenal.

PS. Zombie mode is confirmed which is nice!
PSS. I like the design of Frank Woods (guy with green bandana and beard)

looks a lot like every other COD, for that reason alone, i think i'll pass. i refuse to line activisions pockets...i ended up buying MW2 despite my better judgement telling me not to, and i regret the puchase almost as much as perfect dark zero. not going to fall for that again.

"Looks alot like every other COD".

Are you serious?
Its COD of course its going to be like that, but its in Cold War so it is going to be different compared to MW and MW2.
From gadgets, settings, outfits, weapons...etc.

I didnt see you say the samething with Killzone 3.

Also this is by Treyarch and not IW that did MW2.

I think we should give Treyarch a chance with Black Ops and see how it turns out and not go by the "Oh its COD, its going to be like another MW2" thing.

Well of course it does... I don't know why people think COD should be something else.

Modern warfare 2 looked like a game that would disappoint even before it was released because lets be serious we all knew that topping Modern warfare would be very hard whereas Black ops has great potential if done correctly.

All i know its gonna have a better story element than MW 2 had the only thing that i have doubts is multiplayer

becasue it's had the EXACT same formula for what is it now? 4 games including this. it needs to evolve. atm it's just a reskin of the same game. i already have cod4, cod5, and MW2. i think 3 versions of the same game is enough for me.

I'm tired of COD games. The multiplayer is horrid with all the rpg elements and spawn kills. Damn, all I want is an updated MOH:AA, but I don't think there is a single dev out there skilled enough to do another AA quality game.

Looks great but still not sure if Treyarch can pull off a good Singleplayer (think what you like, but I thought MW1 & 2 campaigns were great). Never liked what I saw and played of World at War.

I should add that I do like the single player COD element, but they are always too short, and I hate the style of gameplay where you are essentially just fighting through 'waves' of enemies that are obviously just spawning from nothing behind the scenes (sometimes not behind the scenes lol). It doesn't feel alive like the first time you show your papers to some nazis in MOH:AA and judging the look on his face hoping he doesn't suspect you, or trying to sneak your truck load of soldiers into a nazi encampment to infiltrate and watching the driver cap a nazi in the chest and take off after they got busted. Or how about the submarine, where you could actually enter the sub and be amazed by all the detail? I just don't see lively moments like this in games much anymore.

I don't necessarily disagree with you're first points. It is essentially the same formula; and I would like to see it evolve.

But I don't dislike the way it is, nor I am I bored of the gameplay mechanics. And the context has been kept fresh with each iteration and continues to interest me.

I think calling it a "reskin" or "the same game" is a bit primitive.

only 2 good things about this game, zombie mode and customization

Treyarch turned COD into a darker game and upped the gore with WaW, and I loved that game, more so than MW2 if i dare say so.....and Nazi Zombies, i mean can you think of a better extra for a game like this? This game got my attention and i'm sure it wont let down...although spawn kills and rpg shots are going to happen, but hey people still play halo and that game is the worst at them both IMO.

I think MW2 is the game that got the scripted blockbuster right. It's not afraid to stick you in the crapper if you cock up, nor is it too busy making things hard to impede your progress for long. It's balanced spectacle, and where it needs to "evolve" is mainly in the way it funnels you along. In that sense, it *is* evolving though, and MW2 was noticably better at allowing you to feel like you're moving along a battlefield, not *moving a battlefield along*.

It's the rare instance where the game is short enough and bombastic enough that I just need the scenery and scenario and "story" as it were to change. I'll gladly shell out for this brand of mental production values and shit hitting the fan repeatedly for 5 hours once a year.

Meh, MW 2 is pretty bad with the invisible walls and has scripting problems where you can't kill some enemies because they're about to do a certain animation for the story, that is also evident in the new Medal of Honor as Jeff Gerstmann criticised it in the Quick Look.

Half Life is still the king of scripting in games. Enough flexibility so it doesn't feel as condescendingly linear, but perfectly tuned scripted events to amp up the drama.

The thing is, HL2 is already pretty long if you take the filler sub-par parts like riding the coast line in your buggy just because you can, without it i'm pretty sure it would take much more than 5-6 hours to complete. And the thing that makes it apart from MW2 is that it's a atmosphere game that makes you explore it with a better pacing, not as slow and loot everything as bioshock, but it gives you the idea.

a better, more improved game maybe? did i say i wanted it to change genre *re-reads original post* no, no i did not. i just want the series to go somewhere. atm it's stagnating. if you love it, bully for you. but *i* dont, and in regards to my own feelings towards the game, and whether i'll buy it or not, that is ALL that matters.

i'm done with COD untill there is a big improvement. and this certainly isnt it.

Where else do you think CoD franchise can go, without losing its identity? It has always been from day 1, an arcade war shooter. The multiplayer now from MW forwards, is as arcadey as you can get. If the series went "realistic", it wouldn't be CoD anymore.

All they can do is put CoD in different time periods, much like Ass Creed.

Everyone should try Medal of Honor. I've read reviews where it has got a 6 out of 10, but those guys have been smoking the Jeffrey too long and are clueless. MOH is great. IMO, FPS' cannot evolve any further except for a few bits and pieces. Military shooters even more so. Realism is all that really matters, and MOH gives you that war feeling properly. COD is for fun fun fun...

HL2 is not a "scripted blockbuster", far, far, far from it. I'm speaking in regards to the recent trend of only *sorta* letting you guide the action.

You're not meant to kill every enemy in MW2, it's not Pac Man. You're meant to kill enemies that are about to kill you and keep up/keep alive. Sure you can break the illusion, much like you could break the illusion by purposly walking the opposite direction in a ghost house or trying to head out in the woods in a racing game. That's hardly the point though.

I think MW2 effectively pushes the ride along and does so with convincing enough spectacle that it totally works.

Besides, HL2 has more glaring gating than MW2 does, it just moves at a different and much more forgiving pace. They're really not pursuing the same kind of experience at all.

i dont know where it will go, that's the developers job. but i want to see progression like i did between COD2 and 4. for the past 4 there has been non. they are re-packaging the same game. we probably wont get it untill next gen now, but i'd like to see more then what COD is currently offering. i want to see it go somewhere. and that means more then just a location change or small tweeks to multiplayer.
