Commanders on Xbox Live Arcade

Commanders on Xbox Live Arcade

Discs of Tron was last week announced as this week's game to be released on Xbox Live Arcade, but here is another one. Sierra Online and Southend Interactive launch Commanders: Attack of the Genos, a turn-based strategy game with support for up to 4 players on Xbox Live. The game will cost 800p, and more information and screenshots can be found inside.

This looks pretty cool, but I find myself wondering what happened to the 400 Point games, I think I expect more for my 800 points these days (since rez! - even if it was a port)

I really don't get all this. Basically there never was any 'original' gamesfor 400 points, sure, there were some exceptions, but 800 points have always been the main price point for these sort of games. 400 points is most used for old retro crap, and Disc of Tron is heading our way on Wednesday so be sure to pick it up if you really wanna experience 400p priced games.

The 400pts games are pretty much gone since enough people eat up this crappy prices.

Yes quite, 400 pt games have got the reputation as being crappy, so people have avoided releasing games at that price break. 800pts is getting very nearly a standard now.

this looks kinda toony and bulky

About the game

What's up?
  • Melmoth
Melmoth SFV should perform nicely. the beta's fan at a stable 60fps w/all max settings, ofc it's not as complex graphically as xcom2, but atleast i can play it properly. (26 minutes ago)
  • asdfg
asdfg @Melmoth: Weird that they can mess up so much when they have already developed two games in UE3. Maybe 3.5 is wildly different but i doubt it. (32 minutes ago)
  • GriftGFX
GriftGFX @Melmoth: I dunno man.. the competitive FPS heritage of today goes back to the 90s.. that's all I'm saying.. fighters too (34 minutes ago)
  • Melmoth
Melmoth even the post-processing AA they use (FXAA) has a big performance hit, which it shouldn't (38 minutes ago)
  • Melmoth
Melmoth something is very off with the performance, like how SSAO has a huge performance impact compared to other games. maybe their heavily modded UE3.5 that's the problem. (41 minutes ago)
  • Melmoth
Melmoth mouse-edge-scrolling, while it stutters like hell when using WASD to pan the camera. atleast that should be fixable. (45 minutes ago)
  • Melmoth
Melmoth @asdfg: i've put it away for now to see if they patch up things abit. i'm getting really jerky framerates even in 1080p. Some things are just bugs, like how the camera is much smoother when using.. (46 minutes ago)
