Deus Ex HR: Bonus pre-order

Deus Ex HR: Bonus pre-order

Here are two videos of Deus Ex: Human Revolution. The first one shows two bonus weapons while the second one features a new level. The bad news is that, in order to get all this, you will need to pre-order the game as it has now become usual. Again, there goes the debate about why some players should get free stuff for pre-ordering when others will also pay the game full price and get nothing.

Risk->Reward. The gaming industry has become Las Vegas.

I do hate the way dlc has become so manipulated to the extent that its used to purge the life out of a game from it's birth.. rather than pump in life to an existing, tiring, title.

Cosmetic items exclusive to stores i can just about stomach because they have no standing on the gameplay, or package as a whole. But offering full levels is taking the piss abit.. as ofcourse theres no excuse for it not to be on my disc..and all likely hood that it was once on my disc (and for all i know still on the disc only now locked untill they attempt to charge me extra).

The only positive thing i can see in this case is that atleast the extra contents aren't console exclusive like with saw with say Batman.. where i would be charged the exact same amount when buying the 360 version only to get less game for the charge.
Sadly, it looks like the preorder bonus is attached to gameshop alone.. which may be a good thing if it means this is simply for the american market?

Looks like some pretty generic weapons that should be in the game wether you pre-order it or not. Not liking this trend.

According to the games website the sniper is pretty much a fully upgraded version of the normal sniper which is available in the vanilla game.

It boasts a suppressor and increased range but I think you can get these for the SR in game anyway meaning that its only truly unique feature is its camo paint job.

Not that it matters for me because gamestop isn't even in the UK.

... well it might be in Scotland or wales but it sure isn't in England.. actually it's probably in Northern ireland because gamestop is in The Republic of Ireland but I'm sure Game and HMV will have similar deals here in England... I hate all this Preorder DLC Bullshit though..

Was very interested in this until I saw it in action at gamescom. Maybe it was an early build but "utterly rubbish" and "shallow" doesn't even begin to describe what I saw there.

This game went from preorder to maybe an afterlaunch buy if it turns out better.

Deus Ex died (long ago)!!!

And DLC is evil. It should be forbidden by law.

Wow, that blew my mind! That's so weird, but you're definitely very far away from where I am. And there are very few of them.

Anyway, yeah this pre-order mission business sucks. I hope those weapons are just things you get later in the game, and not made exclusively for pre-order, because remote-controlled explosives, sniper rifles, and some rifle definitely don't scream special.

I hate people who think its funny when fellow gamers get screwed.. as long as though fellow gamers are on other formats..

So i will add this, Dues Ex franchise was screwed over to appeal to console gamers, so in essence, console gamers got a game they would enjoy and the pc base got royally fucked over :P

Hurts dont it.

I have yet to see any gameplay on this game which comes close to what made the first one such a great game. I haven't seen any conversations with NPC's or anything actually other than shooting. It seems as though it's just a slightly stealthy FPS. I hope i'm wrong but it seems quite average to me atm

Don't like this kind of pre-order shop exclusive things at all.

Anyhow, what I saw in the small trailers above, did not impress me at all. It does not look good. I have no idea about the gameplay, but something is off in every piece of footage I have seen to date.

hey, dont kill the messenger mate....

i said that in the context of producers boosting their sales at the cost of gammers that aren't immediatelly jumping into their pants to buy the game, before its even out (they wont get that extra content).

QFT! Giantbomb is a great site, and the "quick looks" are very entertaining...

A lot of times developers will do this sort of promotion when they lack confidence in their product. Offer free stuff = more suckers to buy your game. Don't get me wrong, this is my most anticipated game right now, I just have very little faith in "re-boots" of classic PC franchises. Always turn out bad imo (Operation Flashpoint, Ghost Recon, and Rainbow Six say hello)

They have yet to show anything compelling that would make me believe this compares to the original Deus Ex, or even Invisible War for that matter. Pre-scripted "close quarters kills" and the like don't sit too well with me. I love the storyline and unique gameplay of the series, I am just keeping VERY low expectations for this one...
