Dying Light - Two special assets

Dying Light - Two special assets

With the release of Dying Light in two weeks, Techland has released two special assets that will bring players a bit closer to the game universe. Look inside to know more about this.

The first asset : Harran-city.com, the official website of the Dying Light city has been hacked from the inside. Survivors are trapped inside and the powers at play are making it difficult to escape, so the only chance is to try reach out to the rest of the world and let them know what is happening.

Players can explore the site and see how the city once was watch as the viral horror slowly unfolds through the eyes of the mysterious hacker. Players can also begin to piece together the viral outbreak story and other in-game elements that have yet to be revealed as they explore the site.

The second asset lets fans bring a piece of the plague home with them. Dying Light is letting fans download an official 3D printable figurine of one of the many zombies that plague the ill-fated city of Harran. If you are looking for inspiration how to paint your freshly-printed zombie figurine, take a look at our Paint the Zombie video where a Dying Light concept artist gives life and color to his own flesh-craving statue.

Neat and cheap way of product advertisement.
Wish more developpers would do that, rather than
selling limited, ridiculously overpriced LE's.

Amazing. They were really thinking about it. I like it.

That 3D printable idea is pretty awesome, more Devs need to promote like this. I'd be pretty nice having a whole set of characters from all sorts of games on a self. Or better yet, have a "variant" model code in the package. Make it a kind of a collectable for fans, it would help build a community in an interesting way, having people post their code in their game box to the community forums, then posting their painted models. Pretty neat.

About the game

What's up?
  • GriftGFX
GriftGFX DOTA2 having 800k players right now isn't exactly normal levels of success. (12 minutes ago)
  • GriftGFX
GriftGFX Nah they just play 3-4 games A LOT. (13 minutes ago)
  • GriftGFX
GriftGFX If there were some hacking epidemic on PC I could see that being more compelling but I don't think the benefits outweigh any real harm. (14 minutes ago)
  • Melmoth
Melmoth not that it matters, as people only play 3-4 games on pc according to numbers :P (15 minutes ago)
  • Melmoth
Melmoth my point was that not all devs have the know-how or budget to have that level of security. (16 minutes ago)
  • GriftGFX
GriftGFX They actively look out for that stuff because of cheating. Which they have a pretty good handle on. All without UWP! (16 minutes ago)
  • GriftGFX
GriftGFX No you can't mess with the executable in an online game. Which doesn't require UWP to achieve. I think that sorta works against your security point. (17 minutes ago)
