E3: A lap of Blur

Video Xbox 360 PS3

Blur, Bizarre Creation's newest game developed for Activision, was, of course, available for a try out at the Convention Center. As though far from being finished yet, we can't really say that the game blew our mind - except if you're into eye-burning flashy colours. Moreover, the arcade gameplay really has nothing to do with Bizarre's previous titles.
Update: The streaming of our latest videos is now working again.

So disappointed. Can't believe their manpower was wasted on some flashy power up racer. It's the casual market that's taking serious teams to try this sort of crap out.

Exactly what I was thinking!! I have loved all their city racing games since the excellent Metropolis Street Racer on Dreamcast to Project Gotham 4 but this new game just seems...........wrong, especially after seeing the huge improvement Turn 10 have made to Forza 3.
Come Bizzare, you can do better than that.

Moves at a fantastic pace but looks boring as hell. The electro storm effect is the only visual effect in the game, its very repeative. I saw the odd wheel flying across the screen but no crashes?

Boring. TBH I was bored with PGR 4 as well, I just couldn't stand any more real city scenarios. I want to have the gameplay of PGR 4 with fantasy tracks. Not Super Mario fantasy, just some handcrafted tracks with tornados, waterfalls and other stuff. Real cities suck so bad.

Come Bizzare, you can do better than that.

After forza 2 I was non-plussed by the news that turn 10 would be taking over the reigns of PGR but now count me interested. (Especially after the bore that was PGR4. I appreciate that not a lot of people got to finish PGR3 but letting you complete a race just by competing in it took away all the sense of achievement from the game).

Just watched the downloaded video and ... wow... what a waste of a good dev team. If this is the kind of racer they wanted to make then they should've gone the whole hog and made a wipeout clone. Too many crappy arcadey racers on the 360 already and not one good anti-grav sim.

I'm a huge fan of Bizarre Creation's games, especially PGR 4, but I have to say that Blur looks a little underwhelming from that gameplay video. Very bland even. That's just my first impressions though, I'm hoping that the more I see of the game, the more impressed I'll be because I've yet to play a bad BC game.

I knew this would happen the moment Activision bought Bizarre. They would force them to make low-budget, ill-conceived crap like this. Should've called the game Big Turd instead.
