Leading interactive entertainment company BANDAI NAMCO Entertainment Europe today proudly announced DARK SOULS™ III for an early 2016 release date for the Xbox One®, all-in-one games and entertainment system from Microsoft, PlayStation®4 computer entertainment system, and STEAM® for PC.

Developed by acclaimed Japanese developer FromSoftware and directed by Hidetaka Miyazaki, DARK SOULS™ III is the latest chapter in the critically acclaimed DARK SOULS series with its trademark sword and sorcery combat and rewarding action RPG gameplay. Don't count your chickens before they hatch, as they say. This looks an awful lot like the art direction of DkS2, and i believe Miyazaki was a producer or something on that as well. Looks A LOT like DkS2 to me, in terms of art direction.

Not that another game from the DkS2 team is by default something bad. Quite contrary, i kinda hope that Miyazaki has less to do with the game if anything. Just look at how good the DLC was for Dark 2, and the DLC was the bits that tried the least to be like the original or make references.

So i'm seriously hoping that it's the Dark 2 team that makes this, and that they get more freedom to do their own thing.
