E3: Forza 5 in 1080p resolution

E3: Forza 5 in 1080p resolution

Quite a few visitors, and even the official Forza twitter, encouraged us to try and do 1080p versions of our Forza Motorsport 5 videos. Since our beloved cameras are getting old, they do not have a native 1080p60 resolution and we thought encoding at 1080p wouldn't look good, but in the end it's not bad at all so I'm giving this a try with this first video. It's important to keep in mind though that the slight aliasing you will see in the video is 100% due to the camera and the post-processing done on the video, and not the game.
Let us know what you think of this video, if you guys like it the other two will also be reencoded, along with a few other next-gen games I guess!

Nice, I was actually a tad bit concerned about some of the aliasing I saw, but it's most promising to learn that it isn't from the game itself. :)

Sadly offscreen gameplay is never good enough but the quality of video is why I love Gamersyde!

Keep up the great work staff you're the best gaming media website on the internet!

I absolutely HATE this fake shadowing.

I hoped that they would get rid of it with the new hardware.

looks great. Especially incar view - dunno how people can play racers in any other view tbh. The only thing I can pick at is that from what I've seen so far the buildings look kinda "flat"..just stands out abit as the quality of everything else seems so high.

Hows the Kinect function in this? nobodys talked much about it... I assume you can still use it to look around cars ect.. but is there also head tracking during a race?

Fake Shadowing? I believe I know what you're referring to, but so I'm certain, please be specific.

the only thing i can think he's talking about is the AO under the car? which granted, shouldn't be anywhere near that strong in an environment so sunny. (except in shaded areas)

I think so too. And I agree, it shouldn't be that pronounced. But the game is at least 4 months away, so aside from the physics engine, maybe that will also be a tweak made before launch.

Makes driveclub look last gen.

Is there an issue with the normals not being double sided at the end of the video? Look at damage on the left light. You can see right through the underside of it.

@nostradamus.

The GT5 Madrid track and london look as good as that.

Looks decent and drives good for arcade style.

As for DRIVECLUB, 35% done.

Forza5 has been in development since before forza4,lol.

As Most of the games running at E3 for xboxone were actually running on 7 series nvidia cards.

xboxone is seriously underpowered.

lol.

Forza5 has poor light system, car shaders don't match environment(only gt5-6 does this atm)

But both GT5-6 / DRIVECLUB have a full weather system and 24hr day/night cycle. Forza5 has nothing. Number 5 still does not have weather, rofl.

Poor old xbone. That thing is going to struggle.

Yes, the wind certainly is blowing with this post, in a rancid way so to speak. Poor lighting system? According to whom? The game looks absolutely gorgeous. I've an idea: how about you give some credit to a team that has produced it's 5th game (on time I may add) ready for a launch title day one, and it looks fantastic, or may I suggest an eye test? Remember, there were people on here that were crying CGI when this was first revealed, and suddenly it's poor? Give me a break.

Video looks great! Please continue encoding in 1080p, we can live with some tiny postprocessing-artifacts :)

Video and game looked great! Only flaw in the game that i saw was the windows reflection of trees which looked like it ran at 20-30fps, just looked really out of place when everything else was so smooth. And what a city to put a race track in, effin love Prague!

Is this really THE next gen racer? Project Cars is amazing and i think everyone should look there first

The back fire looks weird, not sure why just look like its turning on and off lights. Otherwise ,very impressive, would have been my day one purchase as I have Forza 1 to 4 but I can't buy a console that becomes a brick once Microsoft stops supporting it. It's like building a collection of games only to know that it will be all worthless once next next gen comes along or if MS goes out of business.

This is a biggest load of crap the Xbox One isn't just going to stop working anytime soon, Microsoft owns the datacenters and servers the console will be using and they are only making these datacenters bigger and stronger over time.

There is absolutely no evidence that the servers for Xbox One will ever stop working and to say otherwise means your don't have a proper comprehension of the datacenters that are running these servers.

Just as an MMO becomes obsolete just as Wii Online store becomes obsolete, one day MS is going to stop caring or go out of business.
When that happens, you will have a brick

This looks decent but not phenomenal. I am quite confident more impressive racing games will come from the competition's superior hardware.

The bad news are: This was all running in high tech PCs with much more power than the actual Box, both in the conference and stage floor. Google it and find the truth for yourself. MS is looking very bad atm.

About the game

What's up?
  • GriftGFX
GriftGFX You should definitely skip it if you intend to skip the single player.. but you shouldn't skip it because of the multiplayer (15 minutes ago)
  • KORNdog
KORNdog @Tinks: MP is indeed ass. and the snap map feature turned out to be crap from the dozen or so maps i played. (17 minutes ago)
  • GriftGFX
GriftGFX It's a meaty campaign too. And you'll probably like the MP anyway. It's a fun throw-away experience. (1 Hour ago)
  • Megido
Megido @Tinks: The single player campaign is the best raw action FPS gameplay since Painkiller though, it's totally worth it. (2 Hours ago)
  • Tinks
Tinks if the MP ain't good I ain't buyin it (2 Hours ago)
  • Melmoth
Melmoth @KORNdog: the headset itself is selling for almost $600. It's unusually expensive considering there's proper distribution of sony products here in retail. (6 Hours ago)
  • KORNdog
KORNdog @Melmoth: it seems cheaper to break things down and buy older stick. Like the sqare design camera can be had for less than the new one. And old move controllers less than the ore packaged VR ones. (6 Hours ago)
