E3: Resistance video

E3: Resistance video

Snoopers, our intrepid journalist, sent me this gameplay video of Resistance. He also told me that he found the game very nice looking and that it was running very smoothly, but that it was also very boring to play.

looks good, not great first impressions from snoopers though.

Hmm... Yeah, pretty much every source has said that the gameplay is stale.
I guess they´ll focus on improving it in the next few months after the feedback they´re getting.

I´m personally still very excited for this game, and it´s gonna be one of the first ones I buy for my PS3.

A lot of good stuff going on there. Probably on uber easy, so I wont say anything about the gameplay other than the level being shown, at that difficulty level, requires no skill and no strategy at all. But my experience is: E3 and game demos frequently are very easy because the gamer has 10 minutes to get an impression of the game, and dieing is no fun. Gameplay will be vital to differentiate this title from the hoard of FPS. It looks great, moves well, is an interesting theme. Looking forward to reviews in the future and hearing more about what makes it different and not run-and-gun.

EDIT: Some nice 720p trailer/gameplay here: http://www.us.playstation.com/Conten...GMID-018/Si...

Guys on walls, tall skinny dude assaulting a friendly troop, kitch scene. Very grey game. Reminds me of black in many ways. Nice particles, run and gun it seems from the video.

I like the fact that it is greyish, makes the world look much more realistic.
That's what bothers me with a lot of xbox360 titles, too much (unrealistic) colour.

Yeah, I got the impression from the Press conference footage that the game was a little stale. Not the best demo to show. I hope more attention to the story is made 'cause it would be a shame to put all these great visuals to waste.

PS3 games still in development seem to be getting decent framerate without intense optimization.

Little jealous as a 360 owner.

Yeah indeed, I've noticed that aswell.

The game looks good, but the effects need some touching up. Fast as hell though.

There are many more 360 titles there on display than ps3 titles and many of the 360 titles are running rather flawlessly

There are also some ps3 titles at the show with fps issues though. Mass Effect is behind closed doors, but looks and runs awesome.

About the game

What's up?
  • KORNdog
KORNdog @Moonwalker: E3 could work. But they,d need to bring a lot lf actual games along with it. Othwire they,ll be left holding a console while sony shows us all the games you can play. (4 minutes ago)
  • asdfg
asdfg Now if they could dig up info on some new games that would be more interesting than some specs on an unreleased console with barely any exclusives. (10 minutes ago)
  • GriftGFX
GriftGFX What's wrong with E3? With Nintendo and Sony's stuff out there they could snatch up a lot of attention. (46 minutes ago)
  • Moonwalker
Moonwalker @GriftGFX: Yeah but Phil Spencer seemed unsure when the Scorpio would be fully revealed yet. Would be mistake to do during E3 IMO. (49 minutes ago)
  • GriftGFX
GriftGFX I mean.. they did a good enough job explaining its content. Won't be too long if they still intend to release it this year. (1 Hour ago)
  • Moonwalker
Moonwalker @GriftGFX: Yep, until MS reveals the thing themselves, hopefully before E3, it's probably going to be like this. (1 Hour ago)
  • GriftGFX
GriftGFX Digital Foundry jumping on a six month old public white paper is fine. People want the content :P (1 Hour ago)
