E3: Split/Second gameplay

This E3 certainly was great for racing fans, and this time it's Split/Second that gets its own showfloor gameplay video.

STUNNING! I love the idea of putting the stats at the back of the car, How genius! considering you spend most of your time staring at its back. Very nice indeed, Love it!

looks awesome. bloom/over contrast is a bit too much, but otherwise it looks really fun. AI looks nice and aggressive too.

as long as the environmental hazards dont get too repetative per track, it could be an amazing arcade racer. but i think after one race of a track you're going to know what to expect the next time you race on it...thats my only worry atm. if they can keep them really varied and almost random, then it should work well.

I just can't imagine how much fun it can be with friends.

Bizarre, take a good look at this. This is how you create a modern arcade racer.

Looks so good, and it's split screen multiplayer which hopefully if that's with AI players as well then its a first day purchase from me.

They only confirmed it for a 2010 release unfortunately.

Another great looking racer to look forward to. I only hope that they give the option to switch off the announcer and that HUD on the back of the car (Really don't like that look of that). They should also add in a sort of "takedown cam" that shifts the view to highlight an opponent that you destroy like in Burnout.

I had high hopes for this game, and if this video is anything to go by, Split/Second is not going to disappoint.

I just watched this video, expecting another trailer, and was so blown away by it, I had to watch it again right away.

Split/Second looks exactly like everything I had hoped Burnout Paradise was going to be. The only thing missing is the openworld design. However for now, I can live without that, so long as they deliver a truly over-the-top racing experience.

Feels like an amped up Burnout game. I like it.

I fear, that after few races, you will learn all those "crash events" and it will become monotonous. I mean, after two laps all the big buildings crashed, and whats left? The "shortcut crasher" and an airplane? Also, if those bulidings are gonna fall the same pre-scripted way every new race, it will loose its wowness...
I hope Im wrong, and it turn out to be an awesome arcade racer

About the game

What's up?
  • GriftGFX
GriftGFX Except.. clickers are really popular.. so not everyone realizes the pointlessness :D (18 minutes ago)
  • Melmoth
Melmoth cookie clicker brilliantly captures that transition from being obsessed with the grind to realizing the pointlessness of it. (35 minutes ago)
  • Melmoth
Melmoth rankings/ladders are more meaningful. they meter your skill level and can be motivation to improve. but grind kind of meters just feels so pointless. (39 minutes ago)
  • GriftGFX
GriftGFX In this kind of game I prefer that it doesn't have too much of an impact on gameplay. Like people still like filling bars in OW but there are only cosmetic unlocks. (40 minutes ago)
  • Melmoth
Melmoth he could watch the Time Played meter, it will never be full :D (40 minutes ago)
  • Melmoth
Melmoth but the bars used to have more impact on the gameplay. like levling in an rpg. (41 minutes ago)
  • GriftGFX
GriftGFX I don't find it surprising.. people reacted the same way to SWBF.. and compared to the last few Battlefield games it's a light package. (42 minutes ago)
