E3: Stranglehold gameplay

E3: Stranglehold gameplay

Midway showcased a playable demo of Stranglehold at the Barker Hangar. Here's a video filled with heavy gunfights and a lot of extremely Woo-ish finishing moves, as well as a bullet-dodge sequence in slow motion that just looks awesome.

mmm

Very nice. But it seems they really need their time to develop this game. Must be a small team working on it.

Edit : for the fans : It would be nice if they include the barman from Hard Boiled in this game.

This game is looking more and more interesting, although it's still nowhere near the level of max payne in my opinion....

did you ever consider the team may be large but they want it to be really polished...just cos its a pretty generic game doesnt mean it has to be rushed...

and i think this looks far superiour to max mayne, the level of destruction is insane and really show a next gen feature i'd love to be incorporated into evey shooter, the slow mo looks better then max payne, with a far greater level of interactivity...only thing that possibly wont match payne is the story, but then again. it is the woo behind the game so it might be surprisingly good, my mate wants to buy this tho, so i'll just borrow it of him. it'll no doubt be similar to max payne in the way you play it once and then never again...so frankly, my mate can have it, i'll get bioshock instead or something.

I agree.. but I love the movie it's based on, so I'm so there. Plus it's doing a few things differently, nothing wrong with that. Wouldn't want it to be a total Max Payne clone to be honest.

True, but i must confess, i really digged the very deep, dark and gritty story and world that max payne took place in, not to mention the whole "comic-book" story telling between the levels...

despite that this game got some amazing graphics and the level of destruction is insane, i still think max payne is allot better IMO...

Oh, I love that stuff about Max Payne as well. I think it's a real bummer that Remedy won't ever make a sequel. Great games. I think the second is my favorite third person shooter ever.

It's not surprising that this game draws up that comparison, but it's also only natural. After all, Max Payne had to be influenced by John Woo's films, and this is a video game sequel to one of his best :)

You know, I even played both max payne games on all the difficulty levels without being hit... It was something like a sport to me: how would I survive the encounter with 4 guys without taking a hit.... It took me a while, but I did make it though :)

lol i like how they are still sticking with the last gen "health pack" idea. this game doesnt seem like it wont be fun for more then one play through. looks very linear and the only thing that keeps this game from being completely boring is the cool enviroment moves he does. other then that the game seems very B rated movie. like that older gameplay video with that one boss guy using a bazooka indoors and has unlimited ammo in his suit. it just seems like everything in this game is taken from older games and the only thing keeping it from being a last gen game is the graphics and the way u can do tricks with the enviorment. other then that, pretty basic shooter.

the sliding and gliding and slow-mo isn't to fluent..... yet (i hope!)
they still need to work a bit on that.
