Atari has released an E3 trailer for Test Drive Unlimited, showing some non-HUD in-game races and various garage sequences. A great, great way to hype up the demo release... tomorrow?! Poor Snoopers who won't be able to play the demo which expires on sunday, being away on some stupid trip all week!

Looking excellent but what do you mean it expires on Sunday? Are all E3 demos going to have time limits/expiration dates?

Nah, but there are various rumours about this. Some says the online servers will go offline on sunday, while others says that the whole demo will be unplayable after that (offline mode too).
The press release says:

The demo will be available to download from 8 May until 14 May 2006 as part of Microsoft’s plans to bring gamers closer to the E3 experience

That wouldn't make any sense though (only put the demo offline and keep the servers up), so I guess the online servers will go offline too. Wouldn't be that fair if I could continue playing the online mode, while others can download it.

I guess he didn't pack his 360 up or realized he didn't have it after traveling for hours. How is it possible to expire the demo? Don't we have to download it onto our hard drives or will it be one those X day trials that you get over the internet. That would suck. Just imagine this: Update. You only have one more day before your trial demo expires. Hurry up and go purchase TestDrive Unlimited before you miss out on all of the fun. Only $59.99 at participating retailers.

I really hope they just mean you can't download it past e3, cause not being able to play it after the 14th would suck. Manager/Blim, do you guys got any info on what other demos we're getting? i know we're getting Chromehounds, Test drive, moto gp and lost planet. I'm pretty sure the Pdz demo also might get released. We're getting at least one demo a day, so at the very least we are two demos short. (i'm sure there will be more than that anyway) any word on any microsoft games that will be getting demos?

I don't know if the multimode will have a free-roam version of the City (the demo is 40 square miles of the island) or if it just will be races. If it's a MMO free roam city, there's no problem for them to just shut down the servers on sunday. If it's just races that we ourselves can create, I guess they can figure out some way to stop it. Setting up something that won't let us play it offline after sunday, well, that's lame.

The press release says:

As a way of letting players find out for themselves what a Massively Open Online Racing game is, the Test Drive Unlimited demo will allow players to set up as many instant challenges as they wish. Players driving along the road can challenge other players to a one-on-one race, define their own start and end points for the race, and power through the lush Hawaiian scenery at break-neck speeds.

So I guess it's free roam, and then they can just shut down the servers whenever they want.

And nah, I'm sorry, but I don't know of any other demo. MotoGP 06 is rumoured to be released on the 15th though, so you'll have to wait another week if it's true.

Sorry, i don't have the link. I guess we'll just have to wait. if too human, gears and mass effect get demos then this will be the best e3 ever. however, i don't expect demos from all of them. maybe viva pinata or hopefully gears of war.

It's an MMO they aren't going to let you play it at all after the 14th .. (they don't want people playing the demo and getting bored of the final product)

They are only allowing this demo to test the stability of the servers.

Whats up with the phone thing and sitting around in a livingroom ?.....very interesting stuff in this trailer....

But the driving seems a little off if you ask me.....something doesn't feel right. Well se on monday :)

Im guessing they're releasing this limited demo as a beta testing of some sort....

I'll be checking out the demo for sure this coming week.. I'm really curious how this game plays, how you play it with friends online, and how it works as an MMO with thousands of people playing at the same time..
