Is the crazy inception city folding stuff in the game or was it just an announcement feature? I really want to race with that stuff going on!

Did you guys get to play it? Is the car handling better than the first one?

Not yet, I have an appointment tomorrow at Ubisoft's booth, so I may get to play it :)

But I did not play the first one since a long time (as I did not like the handling).

Yeah I hated the handling in the first on too, made the game unplayable to me, that's why I'm wondering if they made it better.

I'm liking the inclusion of boat racing(there's not enough boat racing games) but the car handling will make or break this game for me as it'll probably still be the main focus.

I'm not sure about the vehicles' handling, but the lack of impact when a car or the boat falls from a height and hits the ground or water is distracting. Might seem like something stupid, but after the first time my brain immediately went "there's something wrong".

And as it kept happening over and over, it doesn't give a feeling that you're controlling a car or boat. Feels like toy cars and boats. That's just the impression I got. Also, not sure if it's just that plane model, but I felt the plane wasn't as fast as it should be, there wasn't a sense of speed.

Inferring a sense of speed in the air is difficult. You can achieve some perception of speed by blowing out the field of view, but even in real life there's much less of a sense of speed in the air because you're very far away from the things you're moving faster than. I think the planes looked fine.

If they just nail good "arcade" handling that'd be enough for me. There are shades of Midnight Club in those street races.

this. they looked plenty fast in the few shots of them flying low to the ground. even jets in ace combat can feel like you're not even moving if you're high up.

You raise a good point. I guess I'm just used to flying airjets in games Which tend to be very fast. I still liked the game, ever since the reveal. But those two points were the things that most stood out for me.

I also forgot to mention that I hope those transitions aren't a core feature. If I'm piloting a car, boat or plane, I want to it to stay that way till I finish the race. Specially since sometimes you might not be in the mood for playing the other vehicles and if you're forced to, it most likely will take you out of it. Hopefully they're just for the E3 demo or a few select racing events, like a triathlon of racing.

About the game

What's up?
  • GriftGFX
GriftGFX And they have their own stories to tell, their own games to design. If they're making a new film in a franchise you enjoy, do you also not care who makes it? (22 minutes ago)
  • MrWhite
MrWhite Yeah, I wouldn't want Naughty Dog anywhere near Half Life. They'd turn it into a generic and linear run of the mill action shooter that looks good, but overrated. (24 minutes ago)
  • GriftGFX
GriftGFX It's not like those people working on this imaginary game aren't working on other real games instead anyway. Nothing is lost. (35 minutes ago)
  • GriftGFX
GriftGFX And I don't prefer to have "nothing" because I bother to recognize Valve's actual game development. (35 minutes ago)
  • GriftGFX
GriftGFX "I don't care who develops it" is a really weird thing for a person who cares about games to say. (36 minutes ago)
  • GriftGFX
GriftGFX But I understand that thought process in today's highly branded market. Gotta have that franchise name attached to a product to care about it. (37 minutes ago)
  • GriftGFX
GriftGFX @Sdarts: No, I prefer creators keep their content to themselves instead of farming it out to third parties because it's a terrible way to make video games. (37 minutes ago)
